Re: Irish Citizenship based on ancestry/associations

This should explain everything: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/citizenship/applications-based-on-irish-descent-or-irish-associations/ In short you are eligible to apply under Irish Associations. That is incorrect, its even in your link. "An Irish association through a great-grandparent, (or a...

Good Evening Everyone! I'm new to this forum, I know this topic has been discussed already a few months ago but unfortunately, the topic was closed and I couldn't join it. Re: Irish Passport Eligibility for new born

If your wife is not an Irish citizen, then you or your wife must have at least 3 full years of residence in Northern Ireland in the last 4 years at the time of your child's birth. If it's less than 3 years, then your child will not qualify for Irish citizenship. Since the UK is not a member of EU a...

Re: Irish citizen siblings is not considered as sufficient based on being the parent of Irish citizen children

Regardless, as @shakey once pointed out, to be granted citizenship through descent/associations is stronger than through naturalisation since it cannot be stripped away/rescinded. Overall, it might be worth the wait to gain naturalisation through associations for the simple reason you would not ris...

Re: Irish citizen siblings is not considered as sufficient based on being the parent of Irish citizen children

We can take it from two sides; I am not concerned about the explanation they put to clarify things, and they do not judge from information in the web site, I am concerned about putting statements in the web site that is against the citizenship laws. The Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act is expl...

Re: Irish citizen siblings is not considered as sufficient based on being the parent of Irish citizen children

To be fair this is a welcome explanation as it clears up how the department understand "Irish Associations". In theory a person could come to Ireland and within nine months apply for citizenship because they had a child with an Irish or British citizen. Not exactly what the law was envisa...

an application claiming an Irish association by ‘ascent’ (i.e. based on being the parent of Irish citizen children) or through Irish citizen siblings is not considered as sufficient to warrant or justify recommending the Minister exercise absolute discretion to waive the statutory conditions, in th...

Re: Naturalisation - waive of condition?

I have no idea how I missed this before, but they are saying applications based on Irish Association take an excess of 30 months to process. So I think I am right to say I will hear closer to my 3 year period. https://www.irishimmigration.ie/citizenship/applications-based-on-irish-descent-or-irish-...

Re: Naturalisation - waive of condition?

I see, thanks. Does anyone here have experience of applying through having a parent who has citizenship but after your birth? I'm just wondering if it is a strong enough connection to warrant a waive. I applied under the same circumstances in January with four years residency. The way things are go...

Re: Affidavits for approved applications and next ceremony

Once the SI is signed by the minister they can send immediately.

I suspect if people have been sent approval letters recently we are not many days away.

If they have any sense they will send out the letter asking for 950 euro along with the affidavit.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I'm not saying to hide them. I will show them clearly and specify the reason I was out of the country. But as my company allowed me to work remotely for a couple of weeks, I used to travel during holidays to visit my family and stay there for a month or so. What I find weir...

I had a similar request to "show evidence of your mothers entitlement to Irish citizenship"

I had sent her passport bio page and her FBR certificate as well as all relevant birth/marriage death certificates. Not entirely sure what further proof they want!

Re: Irish Citizenship Application: British Citizen

While technically it is correct that UK citizens are non-EEA members now, they are still (and will continue to be) treated as EEA members in terms of citizenship applications, just like the Swiss citizens. The whole purpose of splitting applications between the two teams is that CMU1 deals with peo...

Re: Irish Citizenship based on Irish children

Whilst you are correct I think a claim to Irish Association is much stronger from descent rather than an Irish born child. From what I see most of the applications are from South Asian's with Irish children which to be honest is pushing it a bit. Someone like myself who is of genuine Irish descent,...

Re: Irish Citizenship based on Irish children

I have advised the same based on my friend’s clients’ stories and also based on quite a number of people’s experiences here. The only bulletproof 3-year naturalisation route is via marriage with an Irish citizen or being a recognised refugee. Applications based on Irish associations are like a back...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

The idea is to have UK spouse turn into UK/EU spouse visa - no discrimination. At the moment most people failing the financial requirement in the UK would probably pass it in Ireland which would move to an Ireland/EU spouse visa. Even putting the financial requirement aside the Irish system is much...
