Thanks Wanderer and John. Yes John, my plan is once I receive the decree absolute I fly to Pakistan, re-marry my wife. Then I will apply for my wife’s spouse visa. However I am not sure whether her case will weaken somewhat if our child travels on a British passport and her mother on a Pakistani? Co...

Family Permit vs Spouse Visa

The problem I am facing is that my decree absolute is forever taking to appear and my second wife [through Islamic marriage] has had our first child and is currently living with her grandfather in P...

Any benefits in attaching a covering letter with a form?

Hi all, just a general question really. I often read visa applicants attaching a covering letter [written by a solicitor] to their visa application form explaining particular points. Of course, a covering letter is no substitute for evidence but I am wondering whether such letters are taken into con...

Other options to spouse/fiancé visa

Hi all. I've just been informed by my solicitor that my decree absolute may take a little longer than expected; in fact 6 months longer. My plan was to get my wife to apply for a spouse visa once I received my decree absolute however the wait seems longer. My question is whether my wife [lives in Pa...

A question on accommodation and documentary evidence.

Hi all, My wife is applying for a spouse visa and I have a question regarding accommodation. I currently live with my parents in a 4 bedroom house which is rented from the local council. I’ve had a look at the IND guidelines and the house would not be overcrowded if I include my wife and child. My q...

Cousin and Spouse Visa

Apologies for another thread here, but my wife in Pakistan is related to me outside our marriage; she is my cousin. I have been told [by a UK immigration officer at heathrow] that she will not be granted a spouse visa since she is my cousin [and now my wife]. Is this true? And if so, what are the po...

Re: Quick question about forms and spouse & child

Are you a British citizen? If so, how did you get your British citizenship? And if not, what's your UK immigration status? Hi Jaj, I was born in the UK . \ Then your child should be a British citizen (by descent) automatically, assuming you are a British citizen yourself. Apply for the child to get...

Refusal of leave to enter

Hi All. I was wondering whether any one on the board has had their leave to enter to the UK cancelled [for what ever reason] but then at later stage had successfully applied for a visa? Alternatively has anyone had a visa application rejected and what was the resolution, if any? I spoke to the Immig...

John, many thanks. Your information is worth its weight in gold and it just goes to that immigration solicitors are utterly useless when asked to provide key information. The solicitor suggested that she should write a letter and attach it with my wife's application but as far as I have read on this...

There might be another way of proceeding? If she applies for a fiancee visa she could fly to the UK and then get legally married at a UK Register Office. I totally accept that such a plan may or may not appeal to you. The Fiancée visa was an option that we considered but my wife changed her name on...

Hi John, I am a bit confused by your comment. Do you suggest I remarry my wife religiously once I receive my decree absolute? No, but given you are currently legally married, to your first wife, clearly the UK will not recognise the marriage ceremony you had with your second wife. It therefore appe...
