Re: Follow Up on British Citizenship Application

Someone I know online is US based and got an MP involved, I'll ask her who helped her out.

Edit: She contacted Stuart McDonald (note the spelling of his first name as there are two in the HoC). He's the SNP spokesman on immigration.

Re: passport used for life in UK test

If your passport gets stamped on entry I would take the old one too to be copied, as you're supposed to to prove residence goin at least 5 years back.

Afaik it's the later of either marriage or living in the UK with your spouse. So it's the date of your wedding in your case.

Self employed who work legally and therefore pay tax do not need CSI.

Re: U.K. Naturalisation

All Union citizens would probably be well-advised to get EU-docs in order - at least a RC / EEA(QP) if EEA(PR) / DCPR is not possible I just wish more people followed that advice. One Swiss relative did but several German friends seem to think £65 is too much for something they perceive as not mand...

Re: EEA Visa

You'll need CSI or health cover from your EU home country to be able to exercise treaty rights and act as a sponsor if you're a student (or self sufficient). If you don't always have this get it in place (for both of you I think - experts will know more) so so ASAP and submit evidence of this along ...

Re: Dependent visa for mum, dad and sister

And the more OP sticks head above parapet, with applications for various family to come on down , then the more HO will dig into the case. And FP applications even for aging parents don't go smoothly at best of times (let alone more distant in-laws). And the ruder OP and his wife are to people poin...

Re: No EHIC Card

From 2010-2011, I was a student in the UK. I did not have an EHIC Card, however I do have some documents from my home country stating that I was covered my home country's social security. Social security and health insurance aren't the same thing, are they? In France Social Security includes compre...

Re: Unsuccessful Naturalisation (AN) applications

I applied on the 8th August but there is an issue whereby my second name on my birth certificate is different to my passport. My ILR is the same as the name on my passport as is all other documentation. I am really stressed about this, that is why I wondered if it were to fail, instead of appeal I ...

Re: Need to travel before applying for passport

I suspect as soon as they scan your passport the information will come up that UKVI hold on you, at least in theory they should have access to the naturalisation information on there. Although many have reported travelling on their BRPs that they should have returns within 5 days without getting cau...

Re: UKVI testing online fast track applications for EU natio

I hope it is more than just an exercise to get the numbers and identities (something they should have done from the start to ensure people actually exercise treaty rights and continue to do so until attaining PR). I have been hitting my head against a brick wall trying to convince several German fri...

Re: Dependent visa for mum, dad and sister

Just because you don't apply for a passport doesn't mean you don't have citizenship. At the very least get a consultation with a good immigration solicitor to clear the situation - your sister definitely does not count as direct family so that alone needs sorting out. I genuinely don't think there a...

Re: ECO refusal of visit visa

I suppose showing the dependence on your mother here could be seen as counting against ties to the home country. How did you support the point about all other relatives - including potential grandchildren etc - still living back home? It is quite difficult with retired folk, due to the lack of work ...

Re: Dependent visa for mum, dad and sister

Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. I did originally say I would sincerely suggest you seek legal advice now since your own EEA permit was - unwittingly or deliberately - obtained by deception... - the fact they knowingly, deliberately withheld the British nationality in the application doesn't l...

Re: Dependent visa for mum, dad and sister

@noetic I got visa for five years which says I'm allowed to work and can do business or whatever so I'm not worried about that You should be. You obtained this residence card by deception and by all rights shouldn't be working in this country. You need to figure out how to legitimise your situation...

There was a scam a long while ago where Indians in particular were targeted about alleged problems back home preventing their application from succeeding unless they transfer money (I always wondered how they managed to get a hold of Indian immigrants' phone numbers!). Re: Post-McCarthy

Your wife should have attained PR 5 years after the date of marriage (as it appears you lived here at the time or is that incorrect?) which will definitely fall before the 2 year deadline for article 50 so I think she'll be ok. Hopefully (and likely) her PR status will be retained or converted to IL...
