Yes you dont need to send the passport, instead just uploading copies of it as part of the application.

about a week. Based on the dates I've tracked since I sent my passport, case worker approved my application the next day he/she received my passport and sent back the document along with approval letter in 4 days. Overall I got the approval in 48 days 48 days ... that was quick. I am not expecting ...

You are usually allowed overstay of upto 28 days from the date of visa expiry, provided that has justification that you might have to explain on the second application.

just fyi but the year range has to be backwards from the date you apply (or from when your visa expires. i.e if you are applying in march 2017 then you have to consider march 2017 - feb end 2016, march 2016 to feb end 2015 and so on.

Dividends are still subject to deductions so you will have to calculate the dividends you earn after tax across 12months and then calculate the monthly average and fill in that section. Yes to 5.3 as you are still in the UK and paying taxes here based on the dividends from your company.

You can apply for PBS dependents application for them. Maintenance of funds requirement is £630 for each applicant.
