Re: Current Processing Times - Help us to help you

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all the great information on this forum! Two years ago, I had paid an agency to do my HSMP visa, which was granted, but I had to do a lot of follow-up with the Home Office myself. So this time, with the help of this forum, I decided to do the Tier 1 application myself. I woul...

When I arrived, I found that it was hit and miss with banks. I had to try 3 different ones until Barclays said yes. I just had to bring my passport, my proof of employment (offer letter), and a bank statement from home and it was fine. Unfortunately, I really think it depends on who you get at the b...

Thanks Woodie G and Sham111

I just rang the Home Office, and now they say that I can do either - I can apply for the FLR or an Entry Clearance from the States. So confusing! What do you guys recommend? Is one better than the other or easier than the other? I already have a trip booked for the States at the end of the month. Th...

Thanks WoodieG

I guess technically my visa has expired because I was here on a work permit. But if they grant me an HSMP visa, and then the FLR, do I still have to go home to the States for an Entry Clearance visa?

FLR before HSMP decision?

Hello! My HSMP application is with the Home Office, but they have asked me to send in an FLR application now. I'm confused because I thought this application happens AFTER the HSMP decision. Also, how long does the FLR decision take? I'm planning on travelling at the end of August and will need my p...

WP to HSMP past 28 day window

Hi everyone, Help! My work permit employment ended on June 5th. I am applying for an HSMP through an agency, but they are suggesting I apply for the HSMP as an "out of country" applicant, since today is the end of the 28 days. I have not received a letter from the Home Office yet, and I am...

Publishing industry jobs and work permits

Hi Alison, I was able to secure a work permit in publishing in the UK, however, it was very difficult. I am also a US citizen, with a Masters and 3 years of book publishing experience at a senior level in a narrow field. I had gone to the Bologna Book Fair with a previous employer, and met as many U...

WP Holder leaving job

Help! After only 7 months in my UK job, I have decided to give my notice as we have been unable to resolve some work issues. I have given my 8 weeks notice and will leave my job at the end of June. I have a lease through December, and I would really like to stay in the UK. But I am confused about my...

Also looking to change jobs

Hi, If you find any websites that spell out how this process works, would you share please? I want to approach new employers with this information to show them that it would be a fairly simple process to hire me. Thanks!

Is that right? Job advertising.

My future employer hired a work permit agency to manage the permit process. They advertised the job online for 1 week only, and said that the rules for advertising a job are that it only have to be up for 1 week, but open for 4 weeks total. Is that correct? Seems strange that the job only has to be ...

Offered a job in the UK, but how long for work permit?

Hi! I've been offered a job in the UK (hooray!), but the company needs to advertise the job first. (I got the job through contacts vs. an advert.) They are using a work permit agency that says it shouldn't be a problem. But realistically, how long will the process take? Any advice is much appreciate...
