Schengen?

Just a quick question,

When my wife (Filipina) has her initial leave to remain visa, if we go to Europe do we still need to get Schengen visa or does the residency visa negate the need for this?

Thanks

Re: Family Visa - Wife and Step Child

Ok, so everything is falling into place for spouse visa at the very least. Can I just check.. I plan to apply for wife initial settlement visa in Jan from UAE, maybe under priority application... for return to UK on April 7th. We want to collect my step daughter from the Philippines in June (subject...

Re: Family Visa - Wife and Step Child

Just to update, last night someone from my current company back in Exeter sent me an e-mail offering me a good position back in the Exeter Office to start in April. Really good news and sorts all my issues.

So pleased.

Re: Family Visa - Wife and Step Child

Thanks, yeah I am hoping to do it as one extended trip for her to stay in the Philippines while everything gets sorted.

Does her being in Philippines and out of UK for 2-4 months affect her residency visa for UK?

Thanks

Re: Family Visa - Wife and Step Child

Thank you for the reply, long time no speak. So what do you think realistic time scales are, I mean for her to apply for the Visa and then return to UK with daughter if successful? I am trying to avoid paying for repeated trips to the Philippines if I can avoid it. Yeah Casa warned me about the Chri...

Re: Family Visa - Wife and Step Child

Ok sorry I have some more questions. I am ok with the application for wife to come to the UK, we will do that in January and go to UK in April all being well. Ok so then we will apply for the Visa for her daughter, this is where I am confused and where I need help. So daughter is in Philippines. I k...

Re: Family Visa - Wife and Step Child

It's certainly not easy, but this is why I generally have little sympathy for those who decide to dig their heels in and refuse to return once they arrive on a visitor visa. It makes it so more difficult for genuine visitors as in your wife's case. I do hope it works out well for you both. Thanks C...

Re: Family Visa - Wife and Step Child

Well I have a letter from my employer stating that I have leave for the Christmas period and will be returning to work on the 7th January. Will this be enough? Wife doesn't have a job so there is not much I can do to show that she has ties in UAE apart from the fact that I will be returning here and...

Re: Family Visa - Wife and Step Child

Thanks Casa. We are applying for a Tourist Visa for Christmas, is it worth me mentioning the following: We are aware of the requirements of the tourist visa and aren't trying to circumvent the settlement process in any way, our application for a tourist visa is for a visit to Christmas period and th...

Re: Family Visa - Wife and Step Child

Just after an opinion I guess. If I accept a job in Bristol but say that we will initially live in my family home with my mother in Sidmouth (90 minute commute) whilst looking for a place to live once we've relocated back to the UK do you think UKVI will accept this? I can provide an inspection repo...

Re: Family Visa - Wife and Step Child

Sorry if this is a noob question. I tried a google search but wasn't able to find what I wanted so I thought it quicker to ask here. Is there an express processing option for spouse visa for UK from here in Abu Dhabi, where can I find information and any ideas on the extra cost? Also how quick is it...

Re: House Inspection

No, it is not a mandatory document. Thanks It is not mandatory but I have seen people being refused for not having this report or it was prepared by the same law firm representing you. I would advise you to get this report attached. You don't need to go to the council. You can get this report from ...

Re: Canadian citizen to UK resident

@canuk

When you apply for the spouse VISA it is your earnings that will be considered not dis, so if you have earned more than 18,600 in the last 6 months and have the necessary proof (payslips, bank statements) then you should be ok

Re: Spouse visa supporting documents list

Casa, I was under the impression that if it is a UK passport (which the OP has not stated if it will be or not) that there is no need to get the copy certified as the ECO is able to access those records themselves?

Just checking?

How are you meeting the financial requirements? Savings? If it is savings you need to show that you have maintained £62,500 untouched in that account for 6 months prior to the application. If it is through work... are you salaried, non-salaried or self employed? Your bank statements either need to b...
