Working for the new tier 2 sponsor while waiting on a decision to be made

Hi, I wanted to ask if someone can start working for their new sponsor on while waiting on a decision to be made on their application ? The home office on their website mentions "If you’re sponsoring an employee who’s waiting for their Tier 2 or 5 visa application to be decided You may allow em...

Applying for Tier 2 extension in advance.

Hi guys, This question might have been asked previously and I apologise if I sound ignorant. I wanted to know how much in advance could I make my visa extension application. My visa is due for renewal in February, if my sponsor give a COS with start date 01 Feb, can I apply for the extension before ...

Use of Tier 2 COS

Hi guys, This might be a trivial question but I’m very confused regarding using the COS. On the https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general/eligibility Website it states that the COS must be used after 3 months getting it. But as far as I am aware the COS is only Valid for 3 months. I am confused with the wor...

So, the year that I applied to switch my visa to tier 2 and waiting for a decision does not count towards the 5 years ?
No. It would only count for 10 years long residence ILR.

The way it’s worded in the document is quite misleading/confusing.

You need 5 years on Tier 2 General, counting from when your visa was granted. Tier 4 does not lead or count towards ILR based on 5 years residence.

So, the year that I applied to switch my visa to tier 2 and waiting for a decision does not count towards the 5 years ?

Re: How is continous period of stay calculated.

I am applying on the basis of 5 year Tier2.

When I was going through one of the documents on the home office website, it says that the duration can be calculated from the date of application or the date of visa granted.

Which is quite confusing.

How is continous period of stay calculated.

Hello, I have a question regarding how the continuous period of stay is calculated. I applied to switch from tier 4 to tier 2 and it took 13 months to get a decision on the visa, during which time I was in continous employement. My COS was for three years however as the decision process took a year ...

Hi everyone, There is really no timeline once they send the complex issue letter. The letter could be of any number of reasons and can take however long it takes. I've been waiting for 10 months for a decision to be made on my application. Calling the number of the home office won't be any help as t...

Re: Exceptionally complex issue letter for tier 2.

What actually causes this delay ? Is it because they don't have enough staff to look into it ? Why don't they just reject it if the application is not convincing. Without the visa its illegal to work/study so basically we are forced to just stay home doing nothing at all. Hi Ranij, Not quite true. ...
