Yet someone on here just mentioned they had been asked for further proof of residence for her EEA2 application. A clueless case worker?

Edited: I didn't notice this was in reference to EEA1, sorry. Is it different?

EHIC is not intended to be used when becoming resident in another country, just during travel.

Thanks for the link. I'm curious if there is a similar assessment made when the EEA national is a worker. If I were to find work and I send a letter from an employer, would that be enough to satisfy the requirement? Or will they check the amount I make? Also, if I were to claim myself as a job seeke...

It's the residence card I'm asking about specifically, not the Family Permit.

Thanks for your tips! I'll have a look at rejections.

Self-sufficient, EEA2

I'm an EU national, my husband is not. We're in Sweden now. We intend for him to work in the UK, and not me at all for the first couple of years, unless necessary for immigration purposes. I've read the UKBA checklist for supporting documents, but I'm still unsure of a couple of things. If we both a...

I also want to ask about public funds and immigration eligibility. When I had a green card between 98 and 2009, I was covered under a state medical assistance program, for a couple of years while I was a student, and then in 2003 my son was covered (although he's a citizen). I was pretty young and p...

residence card (thru marriage)--when are fees paid?

I want to know what the process entails in detail--what form to file first, what form to file after that and when, and when their respective fees need to be paid. I understand the I-130 is filed first at a cost of 430 dollars. But when I look at USCIS information about the process (not very detailed...

Very useful information, thanks. We have called to a few different employers just to get a feel for the situation, and so far everyone's been very casual about it. Perhaps people applying for advanced degree positions/long-term contracts experience more trouble. My husband works in disability care. ...

Thanks again for the clarification. Yup, mean and rotten governments is nothing new. If I were to be employed just for the sake of not having to get CSI, what are the guidelines for 'adequate' employment? Is it enough just to be employed (for say 10-15 hrs per week), or would I have to prove I make ...

Thanks. Are you saying that if the non-EEA spouse works in the UK, but the EEA national is self-sufficient, then the non-EEA spouse is not entitled to national health insurance coverage for himself? So, I would not only have to cover myself but also my husband? That seems a bit odd. I'm not very fam...

I wonder how this might apply in my situation. My husband would work and I would stay home with the kids. Would we need to get a separate health insurance for me? What about the kids? Do they check this for EEA permits too, or only for residence cards? I see now the question pertains to FPs, so I wo...

again, thanks a lot. i'm just now going through the UKBA website and glad i am. i had gotten some misinformation on this forum before about my husband needing to apply for a residence card after the 'six months are up'. according to the UKBA however, one never legally has to apply for this in order ...

how to apply online EEA FP?

I'm confused about the online application for family permit. While I can't access anything now due to system maintenance on their website, I've tried before and only get the downloadable version which can't be filled out. As we're in Sweden, I have to apply online, but why isn't this working for me?...

Many many thanks:). I can't tell you how relieved I am.

You mention in that thread that one must prove to be exercising treaty rights. This is for EEA national already residing in the UK, correct? In my case, as I don't live in the UK yet, does it even apply to me?

EEA Family Permit--some questions

Hi, I posted here a couple of years ago just as me and my family had moved to Sweden. I'm Swedish, my husband is American with permanent residency in Sweden. We've been trying to make our way over to the UK ever since and we may find ourselves going for it within the next couple of months. I'd like ...

when can spouse to US citizen aplply for citizenship?

I was told that I need to wait five years, but someone said only three years if you are a spouse to a US citizen. I cannot find any information on the website that supports this claim. Is it true? And if so, can you point me to the appropriate website, and/or quote.

Use EEA1 even when not residing in UK while applying?

EEA national (me) and non-EEA national (husband) intend (hopefully) to remain in US, where we reside, while applying for entry clearance/family permit. Do we still use the EEA1 and EEA2 forms? In the sticky it says for each of the four forms "...and reside in the UK".

Thanks.

Only three years? really? I called and asked, and they told me I had to wait 4 years and 1 day from the day I re-entered. This was in the spring of 2004. Is it possible that the laws have changed since? Yes, I do go back and forth on the subject of waiting for citizenship. All the reasons you stated...

On that link I did not see the information you quoted, in fact I didn't find anything relating to EEA Treaty Rights at all (only US citizen specific visa information). Can you direct me there?

Thanks,
