Re: ILr - Tier 1 (G) route - review

as per this https://www.gov.uk/tax-foreign-income/residence, we shouldn't be liable for tax on overseas income? Residency for tax purposes is a very tricky area. You can be tax resident in several countries at the time unless you take steps to make sure that you aren't. The only way to be 100% safe...

Re: ILr - Tier 1 (G) route - review

Very good post and discussion as well as information share. I think most people with second extension to apply for ILR have similar issue on overseas earnings. otherwise, no need to apply for second extension for being outsde of UK for 180 days where overseas earnings were generated. I think most pe...

Re: Suggestions Requested for ILR Due in 2017

@uktierone its really tough question, better to consult with expert accountant. the rules is if you have any income out of UK which is over £300, you need to fill a tax return to HMRC if you are resident of UK. You need to pay tax on it or not that depends on some other issues, you may not have to ...

Re: ILR Query

It does not say in the SET O form that the applicant has to be in a job at the time of application. It is more important to ensure the earning requirement is met I would say.

Is Help to Buy for first time house buyer regarded benefit?

As a first time proper buyer, I wonder if the goverment's loan as Help to Buy to first time buyer regarded as benefit or public funds?

I am asking this because I need to ensure this issue will not have impact on ILR application. If yes, I will not apply for Help to Buy loan.

Many thanks!

Re: Suggestions Requested for ILR Due in 2017

I am in similar case as well. My initial T1 visa and my first extension (3 years )were based on my overseas earnings. And my second extension as well as the rest of 5 years in the UK route are based on UK earnings with HMRC records. By the time I apply for ILR, they will look at my whole period, ie....

For the rest of the five years during my stay in the UK, ie. second extension and ILR 5-y route, I have been st...

Re: Questions about ILR Taxes

Hi All, I am expecting to apply for ILR next year in July. I have never claimed points for self-employment. However, during the first couple years, I could not find a job in UK and claimed points for my earnings overseas (i.e. no income or taxes in the UK. I didn't even get my national insurance nu...
