Re: References for Naturalisation process

1. Get another referee to sign declaration form - who is qualified (read the instructions!) 2. Write an explanatory note. 3. Upload referee declaration and your note before your appointment, or if not possible take to the appointment and ask UKVCA to upload for you. 4. Do read all instructions from ...

Re: No reply since sending additional documents

Appreciate your anxieties.
It’s a common scenario that there’s no acknowledgment or follow up when submitting additional requested documents. A one liner just saying thank you would be nice. One has to assume that they are ok with it and next email will be the approval advice.

Re: Naturalisation after ILR

Please don’t tag on to an unrelated thread!!!!

Why are you paying a solicitor for wrong advice???

What matters is that you have ILR however you qualified for it. If your spouse is British you can apply immediately once you have obtained ILR.

You don’t need a solicitor- do the application yourself.

Re: Naturalization proof of residence with settled status

To be on the safe side and to avoid delays just include documents proving 5 years of residency such as P60s.
Note that naturalization is not an immigration application like EUSS and has its own requirements. Just go with the naturalization requirements

Re: 2007 Life in the UK Test

It's all about a "tick the box" approach.
I know it feels like that but it's not about questioning your competency.
Personally I felt similar, had to take these tests after 30+ years residency here having gained professional qualifications.

Re: 2007 Life in the UK Test

The current requirements are to have passed an LITUK and an English test, or to have a UK degree. LITUK as such is fine as it's valid for life. However you will need to provide a pass in English. Even if you had a separate test pass back then you wouldn't be able to use that now as they expire after...

Re: Ceremony question after approval

You don’t need a valid foreign passport to get your first British one. It’s for checking consistency of names being used, not a condition for getting BP. Ceremony: if that’s the only option then there’s nothing else we can suggest. Ceremonies are administered by councils not the Home Office and ther...

Re: Can I have the documents related to citizenship matters sent to my work address instead of my home address?

Can I have the documents related to citizenship matters sent to my work address instead of my home address? For example, can the invitation for the ceremony be sent to my workplace instead of my home? Most communications from UKVI are sent by email these days (very very rarely by mail). I expect th...

Re: SAR report query

I think it's a bit optimistic for us (or anybody else) to decipher internal Home Office terminology. An SAR is simply a record of what they have on their system, not a progress report on your wife's application. It's a record of what they have been doing - they are not required to explain it. SARs c...

Re: Previous UK immigration applications

Question a) not an issue, either give an approximate date for biometrciss or include a note explaining you can't remember. It's not something that could negatively impact your application. b) Visitor visas not required - only applications for Leave to Remain and ILR. Just provide what you have/remem...

Re: British Passport Supporting Document

It means the first passport - if you have it of course.
If not provide your current and other expired passports you may hold (expired, not cancelled through cutting corner, punching or stamped as such). HMPO want to ensure that the names used in travel documents are matching.

Re: Child visitor visa from Switzerland

The children are visa nationals for the UK?
Are they resident in Switzerland?
Each person needs to apply for a standard visitor visa - there are no child visas.
1. Yes - Link: https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor
2. No - see 1. Brother will need a visitor visa of course.

Re: Naturalisation - good character - HMRC penalty

As such having tax issues are not a problem - personally I have underpaid tax and I sorted it out and didn't disclose. HMRC penalties are not criminal sanctions and as long as you comply with your obligations you'll be ok. If they take you to court that's a different matter, but unlikely for what yo...

Not an expert on this but perhaps you start with the government guidance, unless you have looked at it already:

There are/have been stories about people using agencies and being charged hefty fees locally.

Re: Citizenship requirements

Choosing a different council from the one where you has no impact on your application - why would they offer the option then? There's not a league table of councils - each council arranges their ceremonies according to local demand as they know it. Even if someone recommended this or that council yo...
