How detailed should the Income Letter be?

The guidance says that one of the evidence for earnings is: Letter form employer detailed salary. I am wondering how detailed the letter should be? There are about ten items on each of my payslips. Should I list total amount for 12 months for each item, such as basic salary, allowance, ect? Cheers.
