I'm a non points based work permit holder and in 2006 got TOFEL whilst I was at university, so until last week thought it would be accepted as proof of knowledge of English and life in UK. Checking students' passport for eligibility to work in UK

Can anyone advise me how to check if one is a student by looking at their passport? The new visas in the passports are quite similar to other visas such as dependents or work permits as it just says 'Residence Permit' and the letters don't say much except for work permit holders?

Need help with Work Permit Renewal

I've been on a work permit as a manager for a healthcare service for the last 4 years and changed employers in a similar role recently. I was shocked when my employer applied for my permit i.e. change of employer/renewal and my application was rejected on the basis that the job description does not ...

Has anyone thought of approaching any immigrant-friendly tabloids to get our point of view across? Honestly this 5 year rule is a shame to all of us who have earned an hionest living, paid tax and contributed to the economy. :?

I've stayed in UK for 2 years as a student and 3 years on a work permit. Does this mean that I can apply for ILR?
