Notifying my home country after obtaining British Citizenship?

Hello, I was wondering, what kind of responsibility one has (in relation to their home country) after receiving British citizenship. Do I have to notify them? Does UK government do it on my behalf? In my case, German citizen, received British by naturalization. What do I need to do in relation to Ge...

Re: Absence over 450 days in 5 years

Check the booklet AN Requirements - it has quite a detailed list on how and when discretion is exercises with respect to the absences. The 600 days seem to be not a big deal if they are mostly work related, which should be obvious from your list of absences. The 120 days in the last year are possib...

Absence over 450 days in 5 years

Hi there, Quick question. My absences over the last 5 years are close to 600 days and around 125 in the last year. The main reason for those absences is my job, I am required to travel every other week to see clients abroad. I have done the same job with the same employer for over 5 years. Is this g...

Re: LitUK passed Dec 2016 - still need language proof?

Do I still need to provide additional Evidence of knowledge of language or can I just tick "I met the knowledge of language and life requirement to qualify for settlement on or after 28th October 2013" in the application? You need LIUK pass test letter AND you need to meet the English req...

Re: Naturalisation after 5.5 years for EEA National?

Also be aware that the UKVI may update the application form in April 2017. Thank you very much for that, this is a good point. So I will need to refill the entire form in that case (or at least the updated pages). You might get a refund of £80 which covers the Citizenship Ceremony which you clearly...

Re: Naturalisation after 5.5 years for EEA National?

Dear Char, Thank you very much for the quick reply. Just out of curiosity, what would happen with the application fee? I would simply lose the 1200 GBP? And final question: since I have completed all the paperwork, can I just wait 6 months and send it then? Or would the date (December 2016) on the p...

Naturalisation after 5.5 years for EEA National?

Hello together, I have been reading a lot about this topic, in particular the article https://www.freemovement.org.uk/eu-nationals-must-apply-for-permanent-residence-card-for-british-nationality-applications/ caught my eye, where it states, that it is apparently necessary to be in the UK for actuall...
