Thanks Magsi, that makes a whole lot of sense. I was actually going to try and renew my passport before applying but if I get the full 5 years regardless , then i won't bother till '09.

Cheers for that, came back from holiday and found the IED done by my employer. So I get a full 5 years regardless of the expiry of my passport? The transfer to my new passport in 2009 would probably have a fee and it would be the remainder of the 5 years? Without being ahead of myself, I am also int...

WP Approval - IED Application

Hi All, I hope I'm not duplicating a question that has been previously answered here. I have been a student in the UK on a normal Student Visa which ends at the end of October. I was successful with a job application and have also been forwarded my WP-IED letter and will be making an application for...

Hi Swan, Thanks for the post. thats quite encouraging. I assumed that the SEGS is a good way of getting you in the door with an employer because, as you said, its basically like a one year residence pemrit. I guess you had to explain that whereever you applied for though? Do you have to apply in the...

Anyhow, I'm wondering if anyone has any comments on the SEGs visa and the process in obtaining it and experience post-obtainin...

I see your point Dawie, hence why I'm being cautious of how I use the visa. To your knowledge would it be a problem if the holiday booked with the french was for 2 days- then I went to france for that holiday. So a month after I have fulfilled the original trip for which the visa was issued, I then ...

Thanks raina, thats quite reassuring. I also thought it important to always first use the visa for the original intended purpose before travel elsewhere to avoid future hassles. will send a post when I get back to say how it went, not that I anticipate any problems :D
