Re: QUESTIONS ON Tier 2 Sponsors, costs, applications

I am currently looking to move to the UK to Ride/Compete horses, as i understand i would be eligible for tier 2 so long as my offer is in a certain £ bracket... (i have a degree in SWK and also some equine certifications). I also understand it would be £800 to apply for me; but here are the real ...

Re: Tier 2 (General) - What happens if employment ceases ?

Hi all, I looked for the answer to this question everywhere, but couldn't find it. What happens if I cease to be employed by my sponsor ? your visa will be cancelled as requested by your sponsor. Is there a certain amount of time I'll have to find a new sponsor ? During the WP days it was 28days pr...

Re: Tier 1 process...

Hi rob911, You need to sent passport along with the application for Tier 1 visa as per the new rules. Before it was 2 phases of getting a visa (getting approval and passport stamping) which are combined to one step. Thanks boggi. Is anyone familiar with how long it takes. Also I just wanted to find...

Tier 1 Process

Could someone please explain what the process is for making an In-Country (switch from WP) Tier 1 General Application? Is the passport sent at the time of Application? I understand the process of receiving an approval letter is no longer in place. I've trawled through the BIA website and cannot find...

10 Year Long Residency Rule

Apologies if there is an answer to this elsewhere in the forum. Does anyone know the criteria for 10 year Long Residency ILR? Can it be a combination of 7 years student + 3 years WP (all continuous). Spoke to an immigration advisor today who advised it has to be in one category ie. 10 year Student o...

Work Permit Changes

Any know what the process of applying for a work permit later in the year will be (when changes occur)? Or will it remain the same ie. Applying for IED by company and then individual does FLR?

Thankyou for your comments. Country concerned is Zambia. As for not becoming citizens in that time, in all honesty I think they simply didn't feel the need at the time (but obviously understand the repercussions now). In fairness, Global economy was very different to what it is today and I imagine a...

Dependent Abroad - Coming to UK

Our family has quite the problem on our hands. History; I studied in the UK and subsequently progressed to work permit employment, my sibling (older brother) has ILR granted 3 years ago and my sibling (older sister) has a British Passport (birth in UK). My parents worked in the UK from 1979 - 1991, ...

Long Residence ILR - Gaps

I have come across a series of threads relating to people encountering issues with Gaps when applying for ILR. By Gap I mean instances where an extension was issued regardless of a delay in applying for further leave to remain within your 10 year qualifying period. I feel this is a great injustice t...

Just to clarify; I think it would not be a problem getting past this hurdle as long as you are sure your Government will approve. If you are going to take up employment without your Governments approval- this will be a problem. Moreso if they decide to chase you up at some point, which I'd imagine a...

From my understanding, your Work Permit only kicks in after you obtain the FLR Relating to your WP. Prior to this, you will remain within the terms of your current leave (e.g. Student) untill you gain the corresponding FLR. So I'd be careful with timescales. You were self sponsored to begin with (I ...

Do you mind me asking why you cannot get a letter? Were/Are you required to give your Government a time frame of service past your scholarship? I'd imagine Home Office asks for a letter to protect themselves from Government intervention (ie. Your government requesting your service). Should this not ...

Congratulations!! Out of interest, how long was your absence during the period in question. As I may face a similar issue of secondment abroad. Did you tackle this by also giving a letter to prove absence was due to work?

Cheers for the advice Victoria. It will come in handy :) I know a fair bit regarding visas/work permits and rarely seek advice, however, I wouldn't want to go solely on my knowledge (I'm not qualified to advise them anyway, I can only make sound judgement).

I could do that, but I get to 10 years of legal stay before 5 years on a work permit, so its the quicker route. 5 year on work permit would be five years from now, whereas I am in year 7 of legal stay. My trouble is the absences that I would end up having if I take Job B - that requires me to be con...

WP - Change of Employer - ILR

Hi Guys, I have been part of the forum for a while and very impressed with the knowledge some people have on immigration matters. Hopefully you'll be able to give advice with my question. I am a WP Holder (5 Years - with corresponding FLR), transferred from Student Visa. I am now in my 7th Year of s...

Cheers for the suggestion. I will most likely be sticking with the job and applying for my flr the coming week. I've been through the form and come across the question - are you currently working. I am on a student visa and will therefore be switching into work permit employment. Having read through...
