Thansk guys so much. I know of WCATT as I posted on here about this before. My immigration officer said you need to have 8 work permists - which I have. The problem is that over the 8 years I didnt always renew my GNIB in time (I didnt realise how important it was stupidly). She said she thinks I ha...

Stamp 4 - what are the benefits?

Hi there Had to renew my GNIB card last week and was told I qualify for a stamp 4. I have been living in Ireland on work permits since 2002. In 2005/6 I went through very bad time and was very late in renewing my GNIB card. I simply forgot despite working in the same job and on a permit that time. S...

And am almost home and hosed re the residency situation. I definitely can sign on can't I? I've been payin...

Thanks a million, Tom. You've been really helpful.

Is it difficult to apply for naturalisation? Suppose no harm in getting the ball rolling.

That's correct. I dont have it yet, but will be eligible April next year. LTR takes a few years to come through doesn't it? I just want to be covered as quick as possible so if I lost my job next year I'd be OK.

Thanks Tom The first one that takes a few weeks sounds the best option to me... does it mean I still have to be sponsored? Or am i free to do any job? I'm not overly bothered about naturalization, that's something ic an apply for and wait to get, I'm more concerned about the immediate future as whil...

What should I apply for - residency?

Hi there Just after some advice. I'm an Australian national that moved to Ireland in December 2000. I got my first work permit early 2002 and have since had 6 consecutive permits. I was redundant for a short period of three months and am now on my 7th permit (lasts until October 2010). So, basically...

Can a compnay make you pay for your own permit?

Just a quick question,

Can a company make you pay for your own permit if you have been in a job several years and they have paid it in that time.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there I was made redundant on a work permit in June this year. Thankfully I found a job very soon after (I did have to move from Dublin to Kilkenny though). As someone else said, your current permit is only valid for the job you are in now. You do get three month's grace to find another job and y...

I have a stamp 1.

I am eligible for long-term but the wait is so long that I am going to wait for when I have been working here 8 years and get that permit... that will be April 2010.

Thanks

No that's it, the guy was right, make sure you have 1825 days covered by stamps and work permits/working visa. It will get to a point that they will process the naturalization applications quicker than the LTR applications. I think this is the whole point, to discourage people to settle in Ireland....

Hi there

All I can suggest is that you ring the Dept of justice at 10am on Wednesday (when they are next open for queries) and ask them. if they say it is OK, be sure to get the name of the person you spoke to.

I really hope things work out.

Long Term Residency - what are the facts?

Hi there I have lived in Ireland long enough to qualify for LTR. I am really unsure as to what details I have to provide. I called up the Dept of Immigration and the guy was quite blase saying I just needed to write a letter detailing my name, address, phone number and also supply photocopies of all...

Thanks Victor So I send that off when (if? :D ) i get the new job. So in the meantime I just look and apply for the LTR. What does 'The ineligible job categories do not apply' mean? I'm a little confused. Sorry, so many questions...this has been causing me so much stress I'm barely sleeping and just...

Thanks so much Victor. My registration ends in October. I think it will be a while before I get a job. I have literally emailed every known newspaper in the land seeking work :D What do you mean normal restrictions dont apply if I have been made redundant? I have been trying to get info on LTR but c...
