Re: Leaving UK after applying for citizenship

I did come across information that if one uses Nationality application checking service, they can keep the original documents. All applications now are made online anyway. So it looks like I can leave the UK for a short while the soonest I get my ILR and apply immediately for my citizenship and once...

Re: Leaving UK after applying for citizenship

Okay, but after the ceremony I have to apply for my passport. Do I have to remain in the UK until I get it?

Re: Leaving UK after applying for citizenship

That’s good to know, so at what point of this process I can leave the UK to take on the job? Straight after I apply for British passport? Do I have to mention that I am taking a job somewhere else and that I need to come back to collect my document when issued? How would I enter the UK if I must sen...

Re: Leaving UK after applying for citizenship

Thank you so the answer is no, I can’t leave until I get my passport? because I must establish that I have no intention to live somewhere else. Even though my permanent home is in the UK and even if I move anywhere for the short/medium term I still intend for my home in the UK to be my permanent.

Re: Leaving UK after applying for citizenship

I’m on 5 route spouse visa. We bought a house here and it’s our permanent home but I got a good job offer now but I don’t want to interrupt my residence because I am very close to completing 60 months and to ILR and nationality. I’m trying to work out a date that I can disclose tentatively to the em...

Leaving UK after applying for citizenship

Can I leave the UK after applying for citizenship to take a job in another country? And come back for the ceremony and to apply for my passport? Is it mandatory to be in the UK throughout the process of naturalisation and British passport application?

Re: 5 years Route- 60 months completes before BRP expires

I applied 28 days before the expiry which was just before lock down in March 2020. My appointment was in June once they reopened again.

Re: 5 years Route- 60 months completes before BRP expires

I had to extend my stay on April 2020 but due to COVID-19 restrictions I could only apply in June 2020. When I was issued an extension, the BRP expiry date adds few months so my question was if I can apply for ILR at the correct time (when I complete 60 months) and not according the BRP expiry.

5 years Route- 60 months completes before BRP expires

Due to Covid 19, I applied to extend my leave to remain with a delay of 3 months. This meant that my BRP was issued with an extra 3 months. Can I apply for Indefinite leave to remain the soonest I complete 60 months or do I have to wait to apply 28 days before the expiry date on the BRP?

Re: FLR (M) Online application 2020- 28 days

Thanks a lot for your reply. The layer told me I close 60 months on 24 October 2022. My current BRP was issued on 24 October 2017. The tip of holding Home Office to account is very useful if they are obliged by law to add the remaining to the new BRP

Re: FLR (M) Online application 2020- 28 days

I meant I have an appointment on the 14th of April and booked super priority so I am assuming if successful the card will be issued on the 15th. Thanks for the reply and someone else in this thread said they don't consider that note anymore! Any confirmed info in this ? I am about to cancel my appoi...

Re: FLR (M) Online application 2020- 28 days

I am using the super priority. I booked my appointment for the 14th, which means they could make a decision on the 15th. Playing safe and rely on the standard service means I miss on my work commitments. I need to travel the first week of May and I cannot rely on the standard service. From the answe...

Re: FLR (M) Online application 2020- 28 days

This is really confusing and daunting to say the least. There is no logic in this set up and makes it hard to plan ahead work commitments! So does this mean I have to wait until my BRP expires to schedule/ attend the appointment to make sure it is issued after the 24th April 2020 ? Just to inform ev...

Re: FLR (M) Online application 2020- 28 days

Thanks a lot of these clarifications. I think Home office should issue an up to date guidance about the process now that the applications are made online. It makes sense that the remaining days will be added so people can complete the 60 months without having to extend another time if within the 28 ...

FLR (M) Online application 2020- 28 days

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with this as the new rules are a bit confusing. I was not able to find FLR (M) guidance that is up to date so any help with my query will be appreciated. I am due to extend my family permit which expires on 24th April 2020. It was granted on 24th October 2017. (30 mon...

Re: Switching from EU route (Surinder Singh) to UK Immigration law rules

The last reply seems logic to me as under EEA regulation I can live permanently in the UK without restrictions. There is not limit on SS route users. The tricky part is If I want to travel I will need to have the RC and that process prevents me from making my living! So we are willing to pay just to...

Re: Switching from EU route (Surinder Singh) to UK Immigration law rules

Right, I have read about this change in the regulation but does it apply for sure on British nationals as well as EEA nationals who gained British citizenship? There must be a way out of this maze.

Re: Switching from EU route (Surinder Singh) to UK Immigration law rules

Thanks for the reply. I would just need to know the reason why it was refused from within the UK because it does not make any sense to refuse people who are genuine and qualify for residence. I just want to be able to do my work from the UK and have a normal life! If you stumble upon the link just p...

Re: Switching from EU route (Surinder Singh) to UK Immigration law rules

I am non EEA and I relocated with my husband (UK citizen) to the UK through SS since we both lived and worked in the EU for the last 10 years. I have my family permit but it's expiring soon and I will need a residence card to be more flexible. Since it takes 6 months to be delivered, and the route w...

It wouldnt make much sense because it will mean I will have to go back to the country of my nationality to apply, while I am considered now as a resident!!!

Switching from EU route (Surinder Singh) to UK Immigration law rules

Hi, Due to Brexit, Home office decided that residence card issued under EU legislation will not be valid after Brexit and people will have to re-apply again through whatever procedure will be available. I am due to apply for an EEA residence card ( I got my family permit through SS) but since it wil...

Re: Payment not withdrawn

Sadly, I forgot to sign the card details form so they were not able to take the payment. They are sending my pack back and I might have to re- apply which is very annoying. From what I read you can re enter with COA. I think you can request your passport once your biometrics are submitted. If the wi...

Re: Residence card application non-eaaafter family permit ex

Thanks for the clarification but it's quite confusing how the system works here. It's misleading and not straight forward! How is it possible to reapply for family permit every time one exits the UK? It takes at least a month to be approved so a person it meant to stay abroad until a FP is received ...
