Re: UKM application experience and timeline

HI format 346, It shouldn't matter where you were born or where you lived before or after 1983. As long as your mother is British, you are automatically British by descent. I recently got my citizenship by UKM and I have never lived in the UK. I was born in New York and still live here. On that sect...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Fantastic news ambrit and thanks for keeping us posted. Helpful to know how the Consulate in NY contacts folks for ceremonies - I was wondering that myself since I'm based in NYC. Have a great ceremony. Nashwoff

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Hi everyone still following... Happy to report I got my approval today! So based on my application, as well as ambrit's, it seems these UKM applications are being turned around rather quickly by Home Office these days. Here's my timeline as of now: Eligibility criteria: UKM (born before 1983 in USA ...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Congrats Ambrit! Very strange indeed that you never received acknowledgement/Case ID nor did biometrics but still got an approval letter. I also renewed my US passport within the last 8 months and still had to do biometrics. But the point is....it's great news for you and it gives me hope that the t...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Hi ambrit, How frustrating! FYI I sent in the following documents along with my UKM application: 1. My original US passport 2. My British mother's original US passport (indicating her place of birth was United Kingdom) 3. My original long-form US birth certificate 4. My mother's original UK birth ce...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Hi ambrit, I sent my materials in the same day as you (Jan 17) and I've already finished through the biometrics phase. I would contact the Home Office with an inquiry. The email provided in the UKM guide is nationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk Seems like there was some delay with your applicat...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Thank you Orojim!

Congrats on your successful application! AM I correct in assuming that approval notification does not come electronically by email as well but only by mail? - Alison

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Here's my current timeline from the USA. I will update this as soon as I learn more. Any others out there with recent timelines I can use as a reference? Curious what the current turnaround time is between biometrics and approval. Thanks all. - Alison Eligibility criteria: UKM (born before 1983 in U...
