Denied entry to Ireland - Do I need UK entry clearance?

Hello, The *I* in the subject refers to a friend of mine. Let's call her Linda. I'm a British Citizen but I travel on my American passport. (I'm in the process of applying for my UK passport) I'm currently living in the USA. Linda is Mexican. Linda and I took a trip to Ireland. She flew from Mexico ...

I am not sure what you are asking but a caution is an admission of guilt.

As trs2011 said, ring the CRB

I have researched this extensively because my partner has a caution and I am trying to get him a visa to America. If you have never been arrested or charged / cautioned and you get an enhanced CRB it comes back as, "No Trace" If you have been arrested and charged / cautioned within the pas...

I am curious, what is the country of origin for the people waiting 3 months + does that have something to do with the delay?

How did you get ILR without a passport?

Also, what a nightmare. Hope you get it all sorted soon.

Having been to both places to get ILR here's my experience. At Croydon a PEO worker looked through my paperwork and asked me various questions. She found an irregularity and told me that my application could not be processed. I paid nothing and went home. My understanding is that if there were no ir...

American with ILR wants to move to Netherlands with UK Spous

Hello, I may be getting a job offer in the Netherlands for a 2-3 month contract. From my impression, this job may be a secondment, through a UK company and I'd be paid into my UK bank account. I'm American. Currently I have ILR here in the UK. If my boyfriend (Scottish) and I were to marry, would I ...

It's not the accepted convention in Britain to change your name. It's an old colonial way of doing things and enforcing your culture, language and ways upon others. It is the British way to accept people for their differences, not try and fit everyone in the same mould. It is the accepted conventio...

And change the name in your passport and on all legal documents...and if you move back to the UK, revert to your original name to fit back in again? Do you see my point? If I were to stay in China long enough to to be granted a Chinese passport, yes I would change my name in the Chinese passport an...

Let me rephrase that-- In what circumstance would an immigrant coming to the UK, or any other country using last names as the accepted convention, not have a last name? I understand there are cultural differences in the country of origin, but really is it wise once you're here in the UK not to have ...

I am going through this process now as a US citizen. Basically you can't apply for the provisional license online. I tried this, and failed. You have to post your passport to the DVLA in Swansea. They will post it back to you in 3 weeks. Take your theory tests. Then take your practical test. Normall...

The easiest way around this is to plan a year in advance. Your salary should be whatever the Tier 1 minimum is. So if you need, £32K, for example, in order to get Tier 1 then make sure your salary-- the part you are paying tax on -is £32K even if it means you have a smaller commission. Yes, you e...

I know that for Tier 1 renewals if you are on maternity leave then you can claim for the 12 before that. I don't know if that applies to ILR but maybe one of the senior members can advise. If there isn't a provision for this in the guide notes for ILR then your best bet may be renewing your Tier 1, ...

I only know about HSMP after November 2006. As far as I know if you were a student you should have applied for a student visa. The year that you would have spent as a student would not have counted to ILR. Then once you finished your studies you would have needed to re-apply for HSMP/Tier 1, etc. Yo...

Thanks for the explanation, Sush. I was confusing WP with Tier 1. I wonder what the original poster's tax situation is? Did the company deduct tax from the invoices? Or was she responsible for paying tax on her own? Did she receive any other benefits? I'm just thinking aloud here. If tax was deducte...

Sush, can you explain why this is a problem as long as it shows she has money going into her account from the company? If she can provide the bank statements and P60's does it really matter? To me this seems more like a technicality rather that a violation. I don't have a dog in this race, but am ju...

As far as I have heard no, they don't do a credit check.

Generally, a company can't do a credit check on you unless you give them permission to anyhow.

I'm just reading through some Parliamentary documents from: http://www.parliament.uk/topics/Immigration.htm The new Tier 1 rules favour science over the arts. As you may recall there are only 1,000 Tier 1 visas to be issued from April 6. 700 of these will be reserved for science. 300 will be reserve...
