Update: I submitted my passport application to the SF Consulate on April 6, 2017. It was scanned in at the DFA in Dublin on May 18, 2017. They give a 4 week estimate for completion. The SF Consulate replied to inquiry on how long it takes from start to finish as follows: "All work on the passp...

My passport application was received at San Francisco's Irish Consulate today. Will let all know when passport is received. Webpage says 12 to 16 weeks for first time passports. We shall see.

I just received my FBR cetificate today via FedEx! I am in the California. My application was received in Dublin on November 14, 2016. So about a 4.5 month turnaround. Just wondering if FBR contacts the person who vouches for our identity on the application and if so, how long before the application is approved is the contact made? That would be a pretty good indicator that the application is being processed.

My FBR application was received in Dublin on November 14. 6 months wait seems to be the norm, so hopefully I will hear something by early May! Will post when I hear anything.
