Just order one of those deed polls online. Get it signed from a friend and include it in your passport application.

You should get multiple copies of the deed poll to change your name with banks, credit cards, driving license, council etc.

That's not true. I recently did that and my passport doesn't contain any note about my previous name.

It's a good time to change the name. A simple deed poll will do.

OCI and moving out of the UK

I'm planning to apply for OCI next week. But I'm also planning to move to the US in February 2014. Taking the worst case scenario, if I don't get my OCI approval until February 2014, would it be possible to move the application to a consulate office in the US?

Thanks!

Do you work for the same company in the UK? If not, make sure to show as much evidence as possible of socio-economical ties to the UK. This would include family, mortgage etc.

I wonder why not? UK and US both allow dual citizenship. So what's the harm?

Ask your lawyers about this. They should be able to get an updated petition, if needed.

I believe you still need to apply for ESTA prior to your travel - http://london.usembassy.gov/dhs/esta_info.html

Please do let us know the outcome of your ESTA application!

I fail to understand the relevance of your post. The rules are loud and clear on the official website. Obviously, they do make sure your degree is relevant to the job being applied for. If not, they'll probably check details of your past work experience. Having said that, now you know why I suggeste...

Of course, if you're applying for H1B for an IT job, your finance degree is worthless.

H1B visa requires a professional degree. Or 5+ years of experience. The OP doesn't seem to have those.

It shouldn't matter. Probably you'll need to include your marriage certificate along with your BC application.

Keep getting logged out

I keep getting logged out every couple of hours. I always check that 'remember me' checkbox. I've even tried clearing all the cache and cookies and two separate browsers - chrome and safari.

Anyone else facing this issue?
