Cash gift

I'm confused about the requirements re a cash gift from family member (or anyone else). What I previously understood was that it was acceptable to receive money from someone - and use that money to fulfill the requirements for a settelement spouse visa. I myself received 62,500 from my parents, and ...

Not fit for purpose

Surely the point of any forum like this is to help the users. In this case that would be applicants for a settlement visa. To shut down a pressing and hugely distressing topic such as the 'pause' issue -and then prevent any further discussion - because a few forum members have broken rules, surely r...

Re: uk spouse visa on hold :(

The Freedom of Information Request was answered :

https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/ ... ications_o

It could be taken as reassuring however there are many people here who are sure they do meet the minimum income requirement.

Re: uk spouse visa on hold :(

Still no clear information from the government or any sources of authority. I cannot imagine how distressing this must be for anyone affected. I am applying for Bangkok and am following closely the local forums. Yesterday someone received the dreaded 'on hold' email, applying for the spouse settleme...

Time limit from application/payment to biometrics?

Hi all, I've had an unexpected delay in receiving bank statements which means I may not be able to submit the documents for scanning and do the biometrics until June 12th. I did the online application / payment on May 30th. Our intended time of travel (which now seems unrealistic) was stated as July...

Re: uk spouse visa on hold :(

This is a very unsettling situation for all that has very little good information available. Could those who have received the awful 'pause' email perhaps give more specific information about their situation? It may be that if the applicant just misses the financial requirements (in any way) or has ...

Re: uk spouse visa on hold :(

The theory that this 'pause' is due to the election doesn't me sense to me purely from a practical perspective. Surely for the requirements to change it would have to go through the legislative process - which is going to be occupied by Brexit negotiations from the middle of June. This will be the m...

Re: PAUSE SPOUSE VISA DECISION MAKING - confused & frustrate

I'm so sorry for anyone stuck in this situation. The lack of information from the government is appalling. I find the wording of the statement to be very vague. On the VFS website, it states : "Following a Supreme Court judgment, the Home Office has paused decision-making on some applications –...

Re: Satisfying possible future applications

Thanks - I understand we'll need it for future applications. Would it be helpful in any way for our current application?

Is there any other information we need to provide in the application regarding the language requirement. Do I need to write anything about it in the sponsor letter?

Re: Satisfying possible future applications

We just received the A1 certificate for the language requirement and were told my fiance could easily have passed the B1. Would there be any benefit for us to do that? (While I'm doing my best to ignore the advice I had re 'future applications' I want to do my best to make sure this application is a...

Re: Satisfying possible future applications

Unfortunately it wasn't April 1st and I received a longer reply further reinforcing the point in ways that make even less sense.

I'll do my best to keep calm, ignore the whole encounter and carry on as before.

Satisfying possible future applications

Having conceded defeat to the complexities of the spouse visa application process, I decided to employ a lawyer to advise me. However, this has just opened up a hornets nest. I will give the gist, without replicating the emails I received, I was given a whole new hoop to jump through - a new hurdle ...

Re: Date of Application

I wonder if anyone has any clarification as to the above post and reply. I'm guessing that the reply that 'Evidence of communication during your time apart is important to prove subsisting relationship.' was based on an understanding that we have been apart from eachother for 3 and a half months at ...

Re: Date of Application

Thanks for the reply. I have been travelling in and out of Thailand repeatedly (13 times since Feb 2014), and have never been apart from my partner for more than 2 weeks at a time. The three and a half months is the total time accumulated since we met. Considering that I will be in Thailand with her...

Re: Date of Application

We will be getting married in the middle of May and submitting our application early to mid June. Are there any issues with applying for a spouse visa this close to the registration of the marriage? We are also not having a formal wedding celebration. My fiance's parents will attend the registration...

Re: Date of Application

I have some more questions already - trying to make sure every box is ticked correctly and now onto the nitty gritty of the practicalities of submitting the paperwork:) I have come across the issue of 'certified copies'. As the sponsor, I will need to supply a copy of my passport printed on an A4 pa...

Re: Date of Application

Casa, thank you so much for your time and the clarity of your responses. I hope that's pretty much it now :) I may post a list of the table of contents before I submit, if that's ok, just to check that I haven't made any glaring mistakes (as I nearly did by nearly paying for the application well bef...

Re: Date of Application

I'm a bit stumped by a few questions on the VAF4A form and haven't found any answers online. The question is : "1.24 What languages do you speak well?" The guidance says "Please tell us which language(s) are you fluent in." The language requirement for this visa is A1 but I would...

Re: Date of Application

As far as evidence goes to support a Spouse application, the following would be enough? Is there anything else that I was thinking of including with the 'unmarried partner' application that I should also include here? the marriage documents name change documents photos of the duration of our relatio...

Re: Date of Application

So sorry to ask even more questions - but I'd assumed the Spouse route would be clear cut. I'm reading conflicting reports about the evidence we need to submit regarding the relationship/marriage. I'd assumed that it would simply be the relevant documents - such as the Thai marriage certificate. Sho...

Re: Date of Application

Re the evidence for a subsisting relationship 'akin to marriage' Myself and my Thai partner have been together since mid February 2014. During that time we have been together a total of 36 months and apart (me in the UK) 3 months. Since May 2015, we have spent 22.5 months together (mostly in Thailan...

Re: Date of Application

Regarding the paper trail. Would it be sufficient to supply a bank statement from my parent's account showing the money going out from their account, to go along with my own bank statement showing the money going in? (This would be accompanied by letters from both them and myself.) Or does it need t...

Re: Date of Application

Casa, thanks again! So in your opinion, everything looks fine for the financial requirements?

As for the evidence to support the relationship 'akin to marriage', I'm getting together a list of the documents now and will post here instead of starting another thread.
