HSMP In-country Application

I'm new to HSMP, and this may sound like common sense. If you are applying to switch to HSMP within the UK (and have the HSMP approval letter), can you do this using the same day service at PEO (either alone or by an OISC rep)? Or is it all done by mail?

I would be curious to know the answer to this one, because I just don't see how the Home Office can prove your absence without your passport!

I am planning on applying for a 10 year ILR at the Croydon PEO. I plan to do this on my own, but I was wondering whether doing it through an immigration lawyer would confer any advantage.
