How to travel while renewing ILR?

My friend's ILR is expiring in December 2024 and because of his work, he will struggle to avoid travel for 6 months while the Home Office reviews his ILR extension. His travel is the main reason he is not a citizen yet (can't conform to day absent requirement!). Is there a way to apply for an ILR ex...

Re: Unwanted dual nationality observation in new passport

Everyone is raising correct observation about patronymic name that we have indeed taken out. But so did I and both my kids. Is it then a case of making a new application and somehow requesting for special remarks to be removed? Having just gone through the process there wasn’t a place to include any...

Unwanted dual nationality observation in new passport

Just received my new passport after naturalisation process. In special remarks it discloses my first nationality (Russian). I don’t want it disclosed like this. I have reviewed Annex A, which says that dual nationality mark might be added for cases where it help with identification process and that ...

Saving money on ILRs for kids born whilst in UK

Finally, this September'22 the time has come for me and my wife to apply for our ILRs. We have 2 kids born whilst in UK and they both have dependent BRPs running till September'23. Having read this board I figured that we should apply for ILRs in September'22 only for me and my wife and once we rece...

Combine Tier 1 (dependant) and Tier 2 (main) for ILR?

Hello,

My current UK journey is below. Can I somehow combine the below to obtain ILR/Citizenship before achieving full 5 years on Tier 2?
  • Tier 1 (dependant) - 3 years
  • (switch with no gap)
  • Tier 2 General (main applicant) - 3.5 years
Thanks!

Are you a director of the business?
Sorry, forgot to tag you in my response.

Any thoughts on the set-up where I:
-have no contractual relationship with our business
-get no salary/incentives
-do occasional work and sign as "Financial Controller" on emails?

Re: Running side-company alongside Tier 2 - which job title can I use?

Thank you for the advice and kind words. This remains a bloodshed with unpredictable restrictions, but "still we rise". The business is completely outside of my COS and my wife is the sole Director of the business. Given it is outside COS, I think my title is very important according to yo...

Running side-company alongside Tier 2 - which job title can I use?

Long story short, out of curiosity my wife and I have started a small business...and it picked up! I carry on working full-time for my Tier 2 Sponsor as 2421 (Chartered and Certified Accountant) and I wonder what job title I can give myself in our family-business. Searching web I learned about Tier ...

Ways to NOT work and stay on Tier 2?

I am looking for ways to stay on T2 (G) visa, remain on my ILR track (2yrs left of 5) and not work . This is so that I can take care of my disabled sister. My Director has offered me to take a 6m sabbatical, but I checked the forum and it seems sabbaticals are not allowed under T2 (G). My Director i...

Travel while Tier-2 (G) in review?

We have given our biometrics early October and by looking in timelines thread - I anticipate long wait.

Can I travel out and then back into UK in the meantime? My BRP has expired, but I have received message from UKVI saying that my leave is extended while application is in review.

Tier 2 & Self-employment

Having read majority of the threads here on self-employment, I see that general view is that self-employment outside COS is somewhat a grey area. I work under Tier 2 for accounting firm (and that is what my COS says as well). I am wondering if I can leverage Shortage Occupation List (SOL) and start ...

Employer sends me on internal secondment. What are the implications?

Good morning, My employer is sending me on internal inter-company secondment to different service line (but within same UK company I am already with). I assume that since I change the type of job that I do (from audit to consulting), I will need a brand new visa, but employer says that since it's a ...

Re: Considering switch from Tier2 to Tier4 for studies, can my wife preserve 5 year streak as dependant though?

That's correct. There's no ILR path under Tier 4 , except at least 10 years continuous lawful residence under Long residence . If you switch back to Tier 2 , afterwards, then your qualifying period of ILR under PBS will be reset. Moreover, the question of whether your wife preserves her 5 years str...

Considering switch from Tier2 to Tier4 for studies, can my wife preserve 5 year streak as dependant though?

My family is in UK in our second year with me being Tier 2 main applicant and my wife/daughter under dependant visas. I am considering getting education, which, as I understand will entail me switching to Tier 4. I also understand that I cannot sum Tier 2 and Tier 4 years during my 5 year ILR route ...

No. From dependent to main applicant, u will have to apply from home country. You will need restricted cos, and correct rlmt with proof that u were not pre-selected. What about Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Test and English test? I did TB back in 2014 when we applied for Tier 1, but never did English...

If she switches to PBS dependent, she will only qualify for ILR after 5 years as a PBS Dependent. She is not able to combine PBS main visa category time and PBS dependent category time. Same applies to you. You will have to spend 5 years on Tier 2 General before you qualify for ILR. Oh, that's a sh...

Continuous Residence (Tier1Ent -> Tier2Gen)

Good morning people, Me and my wife entered UK in July 2014 (3y ago) on her Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa. I was listed as a dependent. Currently I am in the process of obtaining Tier 2 General visa with my employer as we had no chances to extend wife's Tier 1 visa. This means that now my wife will be a ...

Re: Upcoming extension, company is still not operating. Chan

You can reapply as a Tier 1 Ent dependent at anytime if she gets her extension but if you have changed to Tier 2 General and then switch back to dependent visa, your clock for ILR starts again from zero and a new 5 year residence period. Thanks for your response. But once she gets her ILR (in 2y ti...
