Re: Employment history - employee / limited company

Thanks tripping. I've been a permanent employee at a large company since Oct 2013. Before that, I was director and employee of my own limited company. When you said it is asking for Self assessment for the last year, but I sent in all 5 years worth, did not want to take any chances where does it say...

Employment history - employee / limited company

In the new citizenship form, we are asked to provide our employment history. My current employment is a permanent employee of a large bank. Prior to this, I was employed by my own limited company. Do I need to get a Self Assessment Statement of Account? I'm due to apply for citizenship next week and...

Nationality - "date of first arrival"

My immigration history is: - 25 Sep 2005: Arrived in UK on a Working Holiday visa - 17 Feb 2006: Transferred to HSMP (Tier1). This was an in-country transfer; at that time, you could change visa within the UK so I did not leave and re-enter. - 15 June 2010: Returned to UK after absence of more than ...

LiUK test - second middle name

I used my UK Driver Licence as my identification for my LiUK test. I have two middle names. Only the first one is shown on my driver licence and therefore my LiUK test certificate also shows only my first middle name. My passport shows both. Will this create an issue? Has anyone been in this situati...

Nationality application - P60s and payslips required?

I will be using the nationality checking service (HSMP / Tier 1 residence + ILR held for one year). According to the instructions on my local borough website, P60s / payslips are only required if my passport does not cover the required 5 years. However, looking at some other boroughs nearby, they re...

Re: Fixed Penalty Notice - how to complete form correctly?

Yes good point that NCS would have more experience with standard applications than an immigration advisor who might not be expert in all types of visas. Thanks all!

Re: Fixed Penalty Notice - how to complete form correctly?

Thanks - I'd like to know the correct way to fill in the form though, rather than rely on NCS. A friend of mine used an immigration consultant for one of her visa extensions (not NCS) and they did it incorrectly, meaning she had to leave the country and re-apply from outside - now she has a "vi...

Fixed Penalty Notice - how to complete form correctly?

Re: Absence from UK .....ILR Eligibility?

It wasn't related to your date of entry. If you delayed entry, there were provisions made to allow you to apply for ILR when you were short of the 5 year requirement. The 90 day requirement meant that even if you overall absences were within limits, any absence of 90 days would reset your clock comp...

Re: Absence from UK .....ILR Eligibility?

There was also a requirement that any absence of over 90 days would "reset your clock" for ILR, i.e. the period counting towards ILR would start from the day you returned from your absence. Not sure if this is still a requirement?

Life in the UK Test - suggestions on i-Phone apps?

I'm studying for my Life in the UK test. Does anyone have recommendations on which I-Phone apps they have found useful? I'm looking for suggestions from people who have used the app recently, i.e. since the new questions and answers were introduced in 2013. I already have the official question-and-a...

British Citizenship referees - what will they be asked?

I'm looking at the list of acceptable professions for referees for my British citizenship, and so far I can't think of anyone who I know well who has one of those occupations. What questions are the referees likely to be asked? Might help me work out which of my acquaintances is my best option! I've...

Re: Settlement Visa--Missing in/out stamp on passport

Can you get a "passenger movement record" from the immigration department in Pakistan? For my home country, they don't stamp passports for citizens so I didn't have any stamps at all. But the immigration department could issue me with a letter stating all my movements through immigration (...

For anyone interested, I received confirmation from UKBA that I will receive a BRP. So looks as though the letter they give out for HSMP JRs uses older wording about passport endorsements.

ILR (HSMP JR) - do we get a BRP?

I was granted ILR today under the terms of the HSMP Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) Judicial Review Policy Document. The letter I was given at my appointment refers to an "endorsement in my passport" however there isn't an endorsement, and I think now the BRP is used instead. Should I rec...

Croydon PEO - ILR approved (HSMP JR - permanent / ltd co)

My ILR application was approved this morning at Croydon PEO. I was originally issued with an HSMP visa in Jan 2006, meaning I am in scope of the HSMP JR (4 years to ILR). I had an absence of more than 90 days, so had to start counting my years for ILR from when I returned to the UK (June 2010). Visa...

Re: Can I bring a laptop to PEO?

Thanks both.

I has my appoint at Croydon PEO this morning. I didn't bring my laptop in the end, although I also didn't see any signs saying that they were not allowed. There is a café area in the building where it was okay to use phones, so maybe laptops would be okay too.

Re: ILR - Solihull v Croydon

Thanks all who have replied so far. Where can I find out what restrictions are in place at different PEOs (e.g. for self-employed)? If some PEOs have a senior caseworker and some don't, I would prefer to go to one that does. Then they are there if needed. My father is has a serious medical condition...

ILR - Solihull v Croydon

Are there still any differences between Solihull and Croydon e.g. - Solihull used to check the application before taking payment, but I have heard that now it is the same as everyone else (i.e. pay first, check application later). Is this correct? - Is there still a senior caseworker available at Cr...

Thanks everyone! Good point that the changes haven't come into place yet. I'm applying in May so will take a look at the form mid-April and see if it has been updated.
