Re: UKM query, Romein decision

I do not believe it does, but I could be wrong. In discussing the British Nationality Act of 1981 (Remedial) Order 2019, the Home Office discussed this (see page 3 of the correspondence): https://www.parliament.uk/documents/joint-committees/human-rights/correspondence/2017-19/190114_CN_to_Chair.pdf

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I have a problem in that my mother has adopted and used (for over 35 years) my fathers surname, but they are not married. She has not changed her name by deed poll, and her passport and documents all have my fathers surname on it. How do I go about evidencing this name change as part of the applica...

Re: foreign births registration - unacknowledged

The time frame will depend on where you submitted from/to. From the USA the process took about 5 1/2 - 6 months, from the UK it is taking about 7.

You will typically not hear back until you get your certificate unless there is some documentation or clarification that they need.

You have to print the application after you submit it online. The version you print includes the extra sections.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration - Documentation requirements

You will need both your mother's marriage certificate and divorce decree, as well as your grandfather's marriage certificate. Look under section 2 HERE . You will need to provide all of these documents if they exist. Failure to provide the required documentation will delay the process while they con...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I do wonder whether going to extremes and actually delivering them direct to Dublin might be better.... I don't even think that's an option. I believe you have to submit them in the country of residence unless instructed otherwise. I know for US, the procedure is based on which state you are in. Fo...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Hi all, My issue is that my first child is due at the beginning of November (so 4 months away) and I am very concerned that it is almost certain that I will not be on the FBR before that time. Does anyone know either 1. Any exceptional circumstance route that can be used (unlikely I know) or 2. Whe...

Re: FBR application , clarification on witness requirement

The language used actually gives you some leeway: Who can be a witness? The witness must either know you personally or know a third party who knows you personally. Your witness can be one of the following: Member of the Clergy Medical Doctor School Principal Bank Manager Solicitor/Lawyer Police Offi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I'm completing my application for my dad and I need somebody to validate the application in one of the following professions... Who can be a witness? The witness must either know you personally or know a third party who knows you personally. My dad doesn't know anyone in any of those professions. W...

Re: Citizenship through descent -Grandmother changed her sur

Before applying I had a question about my grandfather's name being different on his birth certificate than his marriage and death. In my case it was his first name. He was named after his father, Bernard, with no middle name. All of his life he went by Brian but never legally changed it. Brian was o...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

My grandmother's Christian name on her birth certificate is in abbreviated form for some strange reason, and in full on marriage and death certificates. I sent a cover note explaining so hopefully no issue. If they were to refuse though, it would render it less useful to register children as our wh...

Hi! :) Since then.... zilch. I'm in a similar situation, but from the US. Applied online and the card was charged right away. Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Hi All I've just received my Irish Citizenship/Foreign Birth Registration papers. I sent them from the USA to Dublin. They were received on January 11th. I had no idea they would be processed so quickly. Now, it's onto the passport. Best of Luck to you all John Congrats on the FBR. That gives me so...
