I haven't read the letter, but can only assume either I gave them incorrect details or there's been some other problem.

have just received letter asking for new payment details, at the old rate (since my app was received before 1st april) so hopefully they'll get onto it sharpish now. had checked details, so not sure if a stalling tactic. I got my partner to fill in and return the form for me as I'm currently out of ...

Guess what for last 2 hours I am getting the message that they are too busy and asked me to call later (no option to hold the line) isn't that the most annoying part... and that loophole probably means they can say something along the lines of "no-one is kept on hold longer than 10 minutes&quo...

i've come to the (not unusual) conclusion it's all a bit of a lottery, since I submitted my application by NCS on 27th March, and they still haven't even taken my fee. I phoned and they confirmed they received it (29th, though royal mail says 28th), but am loathe to call again to check if there's a ...

I'm not sure, but not declaring it would almost certainly affect an application. I suspect it depends on the amount and whether it's settled or not.

Hopefully someone else has a more definite answer

here you go then.... interesting... as for the original question, i'm afraid I have no idea This method was pointed out to us by Paul (ppron747) on this forum (hence the title) and used by my wife (Mrs ftgpmb) to successfully naturalise as a UK citizen in February 2007. ppron originally pointed out ...

glad you got that sorted out - would be nicer if the partnership didn't cease to have any significance in Australia as soon as you step out of the embassy though!!

yes I checked and they have received it, although they told me 29th, while the royal mail website and signature say 28th, but nevertheless they received it. Didn't realise the hold message always said six months - sorry if I worried anyone, I actualy thought given the fee rise, six months may not be...

I called home office about my application yesterday, and the hold message is now saying the waiting time is approximately six months... I applied by NCS on 27th march and they still haven't even taken my fee.

I would recommend that anyone applying this close to the line prints out the electronic proof of delivery - I don't know how long they're available on line and, believe it or not, my faith in the home office is such that it wouldn't truly surprise me if they tried to charge the higher fee.

it may well be - I was only given one reference, so if they've given you a reference number it is probably the special delivery one, should be two letters, 10 numbers followed by GB. go to http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm and enter it in the 'track and trace' section (bottom right hand corner on f...

yes, I submitted mine by NCS on 28th March, no fees taken yet. I'm going to call them tuesday if no progress. Nice to know I'm not alone, I suspect there was a rush of applications before the new fees. hopefully the delays won't be too long lived. Did you get the tracking number from NCS? you can ch...

to be sure, I would call the home office and check, since if the passport is cancelled, but a new one isn't yet issued, I'm not entirely sure whether the referee would count as a current british passport holder, and would be better to be safe than sorry i'd think

naturalisation - payslips and bank statements?

I am an australian about to apply for nationality through NCS. when I made my appointment the woman on the phone reeled off a list of things I needed to bring which included bank statements and payslips for the last 3-6 months. However, I can't find anywhere on the forms that these are asked for (ex...

By the time I can apply for a passport the home office will have had four photographs and countless documents, financial statements, letters of reference, over at least five years. If they haven't picked up that I'm not the person i claim to be by then, what is an interview going to achieve? And whe...

thanks, that's what I thought... have travel plans for May, so I'm hoping at least they'll have gotten back to me with any queries before then. tried to make a NCS appointment today for Surrey, and earliest I can get is 3rd April , so am trying others nearby - why does Hampshire have four offices wh...

naturalisation - date of ILR granted? letter or passport

About to apply for naturalisation, checking though my docs from ILR and noticed the letter granting my ILR is dated 29th March 2006, but states it is valid from 19th March, also the date on my passport sticker. Should I chance going for the 19h (or 20th) or be sure and wait until the 29th? I intend ...

all dates?

I am going to be applying for naturalisation in march, and have left the country for several days at a time in the past five years. some of these I have passport stamps for, but others I don't. I know I was in the country for all of march 5 years ago, and that I have spent a lot less than the limit ...
