Do caseworkers at the UKBA store info on databases?

Ok, do caseworkers store migrants data on databases or microfilm. I can't imagine that they would have a physical file on every migrant worker in the UK. My reason for asking is, would they have copies of work permit letters granting permission to enter/remain. Would they also have correspondence fr...

I did check the website before I made my first post and it said that most decisions are made within six months. However, should I expect to wait six months or is it likely to take that long?

How long should I expect to wait for Tier 2 (Section O) ILR

I sent my application in on the 5th of Sept. Received the acknowledgement letter on the 9th of Sept. Now, does the caseworker sometimes call the place of employment and do checks with them and with other people?

Concerned about time taking to approve my Tier 2 extension

Ok, I submitted my Tier 2 extension on the 2 June. I received the acknowledgement on the 13th, on the same day I went to London to get my Biometric done. It is now the 9th of July and I am concerned. What could be taking it so long. It has been more than a month. I know the website says 4 weeks so c...

Also, bear in mind that chances are high that the outcome won't be as severe as it sounds. The cap system wasn't and at first, everyone was making a big deal about it. The consultation gives more than one option about settlement so it isn't like there will be no settlement.

Well really, I think it is too easy to get into the US. However, I do agree with their path to settlement. People are hired via greencard which are subjected to resident labour market test or, they get a temporary visa and hopefully, transfer it to a green card if they beat the cap system on green c...

Two solicitors have told me that extensions are just that...extensions. Not entering into a new category or visa. The extensions aren't even subjected to cap and there would have to be transitional arrangements anyway because the governments already had their hands burnt for changing rules. I could ...

Read the document carefully for a change. "Apply these changes to those entering the points-based system from April 2011." Page 12. And I suggest you read 4.14 on page 18, which says under the "new limit". Extensions don't apply to the new limit. Normally I don't feed trolls who ...

I spoke with my solicitor and he confirmed that extentions are that, just extensions, not "new" visas. This will NOT affect extensions.

No letter from UKBA confirming they have my application

Hi
I sent it my Tier 2 extension on the 2 of this month and still haven't received a letter from the UKBA confirming that they have received the application. However, the fee has cleared from my account. Is this anything to worry about? My leave expires on the 3 of July.

the way I see it (and I'm hoping I'm right but can't seem to get any clarity) is that anyone who enters the UK under the new Limit (the Cap that was put in place in April) will be affected. If they affect people who have been here for years and have bought cars and houses, there is a case for a law ...

Yes, but extensions is an entirely different matter. I think what the consultation is saying is that anyone who comes in after APril under the new rules (coming into the UK) cannot expect to settle. Extensions aren't really new visas, just continuing. Now if you change jobs, that might be a differen...

I see elements of 1971/1972 here. Didn't they with the new Tory government in 71 remove the right to expect settlement. They sure did add it back on after so many years...wonder why? Also, these current proposals seem rather radical, just like last summer when they introduced the cap. It didn't turn...

do you think it will affect extensions after April 6. I got an extension to cover two months and should be able to apply in July (late). The reason I did that is because the first two months I was here had questions about whether or not this period would actually count towards ILR.

I wouldn't do it. Because, it may be treated as a new application whereas extensions are just treated as the same visa but extended. I would see if they can wait until you have ILR. Many companies will keep the job open. I just wouldn't do it.

I just applied last week for an extension to my Tier 2 visa. It was to cover two months. I only need two more months and should be able to apply for ILR in July.

Do you see them scrapping indefinite leave to remain

I know that the salary criteria and criminal thresholds are preliminary steps but what do you think will happen next. Do you see them say that work permit holders can come in and work for only four years and then leave, not to be eligible to apply for settlement? Do you think that any major changes ...

Hi,

I extended my work permit back in June 2009 under Tier 2 transitional arrangements, so I'm on the Tier 2 visa.

Urgent: Can I extend my Tier 2 visa beyond five years?

Can I do this. My reason is that due to a breakdown in communication, I began working (with a new work permit) at a new job for the first sixth months without further leave to remain. I was working under my old leave. I began this job in January 2006 and should I had proper further leave, I could ha...
