Please, let me know how I can help. I'd be more than happy to help you put together a petition. I'm due for ILR in January but still, I'm concerned about people who are here and have set down roots and planning on starting families. They shouldn't have to worry about this. So, where do we go from he...

Well, to be honest, I have a feeling that in a few years time the UK will be begging for people again, only then, people will have second thoughts about coming. This is because people have long memories and people in Non-EU countries have heard about all the non-stop changes the homeoffice imposes o...

How do you people know that TIer 1 extensions will be subjected to the cap after April 2011? Perhaps what the MAC were talking about was that anyone on Tier 2 or some other visa who switched into Tier 1 (switching from Tier 2 and extending their leave under Tier 1) would be subjected to the cap. If ...

Work permits are not granted for jobs below 30,000 and there is a list of jobs that will not attract a work permit. Green Cards however, can be issued for jobs over 60,000.

You must not wanting to move there too badly. What is wrong with getting on the internet and doing a search for jobs and applying? The thing is, the job better be at or over 30,000 euros or it is OUT for you.

Possibility of restricting Tier 2 to shortage occupations

is one of the questions that will be discussed in the upcoming twelve week consultation. Man, this country really knows how to choke people and make people feel unwelcome. If this happens, I won't be able to change jobs or anything (and possible not extend my visa for the last time). THe UK really c...

I don't think these changes will be applied retrospectively. Also, it is good to bear in mind that Tier 2 people have reason to expect to be able to settle if they stayed employed, stayed on the right side of the law, and contribute to the economy, like myself. I make a good salary but just miss the...

The more worrying part is that they are going to bring in cap in April 2011 for those as well who are in country at that time. That could eventually mean that they may put cap on ILR/PR as well or may not renew Tier 1 visa by putting more restrictions. They may not renew Tier 2 visa at all after it ...

I also don't think it will effect people who want to change jobs under Tier 1 or Tier 2. I think it is just for new arrivals only.

Well, I'm pretty sure it will effect people who want to switch from Tier 2 to Tier 1, or vice versa. Even now, if you want to change visas, you fall under what the current criteria is. If you can't meet the new requirement, you stay on your current visa. I don't think extensions will be effected, th...

ah I see, well, can we actually (or should we) believe everything the daily mail says? Also, I think it would be Tier one and two who should be prepared for a fight. There are very professional and educated people in Tier 2 as well but just don't have the salary for Tier 1. I missed it by just a cou...

It is a blunder

nothing to worry about. No one else has reported on it and if it were suggested, don't you think it would have been posted as news on the workpermit.com site. It is all a blunder. Also, the FT said that damian green was opposed to the caps but if you'll think back, he was the one that actually was i...

Marketing my application look worth the sponsorship hassle??

I've been living in the UK for almost five years. There is a lot of restructuring going on at the school I've been teaching at. I will still have my teaching job but won't have my middle management role after August. I;ve been looking for other jobs but haven't had any bites. Being a NON-EU citizen ...

Yeah but they are made up of extreme right wing. I asked a Tory spokesman and he said that it was the numbers coming in that would be subject to a cap. And, Tier 1 and 2 can be subject to a cap. They have a cap on the number of work visas issues in the states.

it is my understanding that the Tories will introduce a cap on the number of work permits/work visas for Tier one and two issues per year. I believe the rules for citizenship will remain the same.

Ok, I understand that they want to cap the numbe of work permits. Can you give me a general idea regarding "sweeping changes". Do you think the cap will be just on work permits "coming INTO the country"?

Moderator: Do you think they will cap citizenship?

You hear migration watch and other back benchers like Frank Fields, Lord Carey, etc wanting to not limit the number of work permits but place a cap of 40,000 to 50,000 on the number of people who want to apply to stay permanately. Do you think this will happen? I'm due for ILR in either January 2011...

Yeah but the MAC hasn't recommended this. This is coming from Frank Fields, Lord Carey, and Migration Watch.
