Entry stamp codes on passport

I have been traveling few times outside UK. When I had LLR, on entry to UK, I observe that the immigration officer had stamped the passport with code *(6001)* once and *(5293)* another time. After obtaining my ILR, I went out of UK for about two weeks and returned. I find that that the the immigrati...

Valid HSMP and ILR

On my passport, there is a HSMP visa valid upto 2011 March. I have recently got ILR on my passport. While giving the ILR, they have not cancelled the HSMP. I understand that new visa supercedes the old one. If I travel abroad, while returning to UK, is there a risk of immigartion officials giving th...

Thanks very much Wunder, and Tim555 for your replies.

Would they issue the letter only for the main applicant, or one each for the dependendent?

ILR Approval letter

When ILR is granted, would there be separate approval letter issued for the main applicant and each dependent? What is the significance of this approval letter, is this to be preserved as proof of approval (or) the ILR stamp on the passport is just enough to prove the ILR status?

I think U.S. Master degree issue was discussed in this forum about 4 years ago, then also it was stated that unless the master degree and bachelor degree are in the same discipline, points are not awarded for Masters. Indian Master degrees with two years duration are recognised by NARIC. May be wort...

Business Bank statements showing the receipts (invoice), and tax payments will help. If you have received a letter from HMRC acknowledging your corporation tax payments, include that letter also. I think the guidelines only state that you should not add irrelevant documents. The above are valid and ...

So, majority of the respondents appear to have voted for points based system for citizenship and to control the immigration such as putting cap on the numbers. The idea of 'volunteering' appears not favoured by many.

If these proposals are accepted, any idea when this woud be effective?

Sorry for the confusion. I reread the guidelines and have updated my posts.

If one has moved from HSMP to Tier 1, it appears such candidates are also eligible to apply for ILR under HSMP JR.

Switching back is necessary only if the candidate has moved to another catagory other than HSMP/Tier1.

Re: ILR under HSMP JR but Tier 1 (General) stamp on PP

The rule says that to be condidered under HSMP JR, you should be in the scheme. it says that it is valid for people with HO approval letter dated before change of plans is April 06. Yes, I think both conditions should be met. (1) HSMP approval before April 2006, and (2) Be in the HSMP / Tier1 Scheme.

Re: ILR under HSMP JR but Tier 1 (General) stamp on PP

The rule says that to be condidered under HSMP JR, you should be in the scheme. I think the guidelines state that if you were in another catagory other than HSMP/ Tier 1, you should apply and convert to HSMP before you apply for ILR. I think there was some grace period given within which this conver...

SET(O) Long residency, excluding long residency

When I checked online for appointments, SET(O) now appear to have two options:

SET(O) Long residency
SET(O) excluding long residency

What do they mean, which is ILR in this?

I think this needs clarification from other seniors / moderators:

Questions:

(1) When counting 4 years, should we include the date of arrival?
(2) When counting 28 days backwards, should we include ending date?

Wunder,

Did you book by phone?, If so, they would have asked you the date on which 5 years complete, they would have verified 28 days, right?

01 Mar 2010 is the 29th day when counted from 01 Feb (01 Feb included). But you can apply only 28 day earlier, therefore I believe, 02 Feb 2010 is the earliest you can apply. regards If we use the same logic to count 4 years from 1 March 2006 (including 1 March 2006), 4 years end on Feb 28, 2010, i...

I called a test centre yesterday for booking, it went into an automated message for booking asking me to leave my contact number for call back. Everyone needs to have their biometrics done. This is when they take your fingerprints and a photo of your face.
What about in person application? Would they do biometrics on the day of appointment?

Re: HSMP Extension and ILR.

It is not an issue. Some of my visa's have the type of visa while some do not. This is normal. Just remember to submit your Home office letter that was issued alongwith the extension. When I received my HSMP extension (1+4 years), the sticker on the passport said "Limited Leave to Remain"...
