Re: General Citizenship Advice for Spouse of UK Citizen

Yeah it’s not too bad, but the problem is having to scan all the passport pages. Doing that with my phone makes the file sizes too big so I have to borrow my dads old printer/scanner and it just takes forever because it’s so slow. I’ll put some music on and make an afternoon of it. I had ear marked ...

Re: General Citizenship Advice for Spouse of UK Citizen

Thanks for confirming. It’s stupid they haven’t updated the wording if that’s the case. Looks like I have a weekend of scanning documents ahead of me again *sigh* but at least the end of this path is now in front of us.

Re: General Citizenship Advice for Spouse of UK Citizen

Hello again, My wife and I are in the process of completing the application. We are just gathering the documents at present and it says we need to submit the passports as proof she has been in the UK for the 3 year period. It says “ANY PASSPORTS SUBMITTED MUST BE ORIGINALS”. So does this mean you’ll...

Re: General Citizenship Advice for Spouse of UK Citizen

Hello, I hope you are all well. I hope this is the last time to post requesting advice on this forum. Everyone has been truly helpful and we cannot thank you enough for that. My wife got her ILR in December 2022 and after a bit of a break we are ready to apply for her citizenship. I want to just ma...

Agency in Philippines for UK Work

Hello all, I am married to a girl from the Philippines. In recent months we have met people here in UK working in care homes and restaurants that have been recruited in the Philippines, sponsored for a visa and have come over here. These have all been passing meetings so we haven’t been able to get ...

Re: Secondment during IRL Process

Hi everyone. My wife is going for ILR later this year. At present I am in full time employment earning a decent wage. However I’m not happy in my current job and a secondment opportunity has come my way within my organisation. It’s an area I want to explore as I think I’ll be happier there and ther...

Thank you Casa.

Another (slightly) off-topic question if I may: if we are in our new home by that time what would you suggest we submit? A mortgage statement or something similar?

Thanks.

Rented Property Question

Hello all, My wife and I rent a property but are looking at buying a house at this time. My tenancy is up for renewal on 3rd August and so I have decided to go on a rolling tenancy from this point forward so I can easily move once we find and purchase a house. The letting agent is going to produce a...

Re: Mortgages During Family Visa Process

Yes I think I can guess that thank you. Can you clarify, what is a tier 2 general visa? Thanks. Tier 2 general is a work visa sponsored by a UK employer. Thanks for that. So I’m assuming that there is no permanent right to reside in the UK, just like the family route? This might help. Correct. Tier...

Mortgages During Family Visa Process

Hello all, long time no see. I hope you are all keeping safe in these crazy times. My wife and I are 18 months away from applying for ILR but we have had enough of renting and want to buy our own house. We have been working with a mortgage broker who is struggling to find us a lender due to my wifes...

Will do. Lord knows when we will be able to take the test with infection rates as high as they are. Lockdown is the perfect time to study though.

Re: Life in the UK Test 2021

More ringing endorsement for those practice exams. Sounds like they’re worthwhile. Thanks very much everyone, we truly appreciate it. To be honest, my Father in law or Mother in law might not have passed the LIUK if this website was not there. Plus I know lots of family and friends (at least 50) an...

Re: Life in the UK Test 2021

Thanks to both of you for clarifying, we can get cracking with them now. That’s not a bad thing, if we can ace them then the regular test shouldn’t be too bad. How did you find the actual test, was it ok? Did you pass? Finished the actual test in about 5 minutes. Passed. Have a read through of the ...
