Re: Naturalisation Questions

In reference to your question about whether your wife's birth certificate will be sufficient evidence of her status, it depends on when she was born. If she was born in the UK before 1 January 1983, then yes it is enough. If she was born in the UK after that date, then no, sending her birth certific...

Re: Need Help

Hi Tkk43,

You can browse the available work visas to the UK below:

https://www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration/work-visas

It looks like unless you are wanting to set up a business, famous, or are wealthy, it will be difficult for you get a work visa without a sponsorship.

Re: Permanent residence

Artur, you need citizenship in order to apply for a British passport. Or do you mean that you want to apply for citizenship, rather than the passport?

Thank you for that.

Yes, I submitted my biometrics last month, so I'm now just waiting on the decision to be made regarding my application.

Travelling after applying for citizenship

I am planning to travel to another western European country for a few days and my application for citizenship is still being considered. Will it count against me if I go away for a few days? And do I need to inform the Home Office of my absence away? The total number of days I've been away for my qu...

Suggestion for "Getting Started for Newbies" post

After my experience with initially joining this site, I was wondering if it may be helpful to newly registered members to compose a condensed post, hitting the important points of the getting started and netiquette posts. After reading over many threads, it also struck me that many people aren't nat...

Re: fiance visa application rejected via email - is this nor

Currentlyinto, I'm sorry that you were given the incorrect advice and that it cost you quite a bit of money with the flights and ending the tenancy. In answering your question regarding showing strong ties to your home country, having a tenancy agreement in Canada would help, especially a longer ter...

That's understandable, Casa; and I can see how frustrating it can be for others who wish to help the person.

Thank you vinny for giving an example. That was helpful.

Re: fiance visa application rejected via email - is this nor

The fco.gov.uk looks like an official Foreign and Commonwealth Office email address domain, but it's good to be cautious. If you're concerned that this is a fraudulent e-mail, you can always report them. Please see below for the UK government's webpage on fraud: https://www.gov.uk/government/publica...

Re: BRP delivery

As I understand it, the BRP needs to be delivered to your home address, and it can't be delivered to someone else. My experience with the couriers delivering my BRP is that I had them redeliver it to me but I left instructions for them to press the buzzer longer, and for my subsequent one, I wasn't ...

Re: Couldn't find Passport application

You can apply for a joint citizenship and passport application at a Nationality Checking Service (NCS) in your local council, but that's only if they are able to do a joint application.

I don't think you can do a joint application outwith the NCS.

Re: Surname change passport please respond

Unknown786's query is purely a passport name question, which it seems inappropriate for this forum given she's talking about temporary marriage (nikkah) and marriage contracts (nikkah nama).

Re: Which Visa Category?

Masg, you stated that you have moved out of the country, therefore you do not meet the requirement of "being settled in the UK" for an extension of your leave to remain.

Please see link below for the eligibility requirements.

I would imagine so, as even though a company is dormant, it's still active, although it's not making any returns.

You can report your mailman to the Royal Mail; but unfortunately, beyond that piece of advice, I'm not sure how much this forum can help you with that particular matter.

Re: Referee for Citizenship appliaction

I initially asked my dentist, although I only knew him in his professional role.

I eventually just waited until I began to work at a place that many of my colleagues were members of a professional body and applied after I knew them for the requisite amount of time, which is three years.

You will have to meet the financial requirements if you sponsor your partner. Point 4.2 of https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/525708/Appendix_FM_1_7_Financial_Requirement.pdf states that Employment and Support Allowance is not permitted to count towards the fin...

I'd like to also add onto Cr001's reply that any person related to you through adoption cannot be used either.

Are you using "uncle" for a family member or a honorary name for a friend of your family?
