Personally, I travel a lot for business. So if the requirements were as per the published guidance on Gov.UK, this would have given me an opportunity to hold onto my current passport (and continue travelling for work and pleasure), while the UKBA held onto my documents for 6 weeks. Over the last few...

Current means the one that is current, not the one that is expired. Becasue if something is expired its not current. You definitely need the one that is in date. Again think about the word "current". You do not need the one that has expired. This question gets asked about 300 times in a w...

But does secondment count? For the 4 months you are working in Zurich, do you need to be paid by the local affiliate/office of your employer (vs. the wages coming from the UK)? And does it need to go I to a Swiss bank account (vs. your current UK account?) Any insights welcome. I'm thinking about ap...

I think the APPG report, and the swiftly scheduled debate is much needed good news. Writing to your MP and saying just why it is important for them to represent you is key, but there are lots of other things we can do to strike while the iron is still hot. I'm new to the lobbying scene, but I've got...

*** Elderly / Adult Dependent - HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE POLICY

All, I am re-posting this post made by Britcits: You may be aware there is a parliamentary debate on family immigration, next week. A group has gotten in touch with me particularly asking for stories of people affected by the adult dependant - elderly parent - route, so they can raise this in the de...

All, I got this email from the Migrant's Rights Network. Please follow the link and ask your MP to attend. Also be sure to give them an idea why they must fight the cruel and callous rules. Great news! Growing concern about the impacts of the new family migration rules has led to the scheduling of a...

Exceptional Circumstances for Elderly Dependant Relatives?

Hello all, I'm yet another ILR (very soon to be naturalised) struggling to find a way to bring a parent to the UK. I'm hoping my circumstances may allow for a more favourable review by the UKBA, and I'd appreciate anyone's comments, thoughts or feedback. Here are the details: - my mother is aged 68....

Similar issue here.

I simply pointed out the page which had the Ireland entry stamp. I also had a print out of the itinerary as a backup, but the caseworker was satisfied with my explaination and moved on.

Did you get this sorted out? FYI - my missus had a hard time getting Barclays to do this as well (with Barclays re-issued statements, not on bank letterhead). But she refused to budge, insisting that its a requirement from the UK government, and if the bank fails to comply, we may not be able to sta...

ILR sorted (PEO, Solihull) *** Maint funds was questioned

All - I got my ILR sorted out at the PEO office in Solihull today (from Tier 1 General). I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice everyone in the office was to me and my missus. Definitely did not expect that given the general demeanor of most other visa folks I have encountered. It...

Try and leverage the fact that you were at the bank for 5 years to get them to take care of you. Also, if your HR deptartment is unco-operative, your line manager may be able to help with the letters. Also, depending on the terms of your contract and your notice period, I would get cracking on tryin...

Sorry, but your manager is being a pr!ck. Does the place you work have a Human Resources department? End of the day, the UKBA needs someone to co...

I've noticed that if you are coming on a non-major route, the immigration folks are quite ignorant on what to do with some visas. For example, the immigration officer put the wrong stamp on my passport (not eligible to work!!!) at Calais. Also, when my missus entered the UK via Dublin, they didnt ev...

This is a tough one. I'm hoping a senior member can chime in here, as I'm not entirely whats appropriate. As far as I know, you need to prove that you and your partner have been cohabiting for 2 years to be able to be included on your ILR application. How long can you prove you and your partner have...

Perhaps it might be helpful if you have any supporting evidence of your return journey - e.g. email confirmation of the ferry ticket if you bought in advance, etc.
