I've definitely been arriving at some parallel immigration queue universe then Before I got my UK citizenship the immigration person I met upon arrival almost always started to chat! Actually, this only happened when it was a man - the women just look bored, but for some reason I rarely had women. ...

I would take the optimism with a pinch of salt, and do try your level best to take other documents (if possible) other than the certified letter from your wife's employer to convince the caseworker that she is still required for the employment in hand. Cant be really sure how the caseworker will int...

plus a passport control person who wanted to be agreeable and who could see the bigger picture of life.
Are you accusing an Immigration Officer of having the common sense to see the bigger picture and on top of that of also being agreeable? That's blasphemous! :)

I think in general though if you are subject to any sort of immigration control you really have to go through the non-EU/EEA queue By the converse of which, if you are not subjected to immigration control one should be able use the EEA queue, which the non-EEA family members of the EEA nationals ar...

A schengen visa is a tourist visa for the Schengen countries and has nothing to do with EU permits. If it has nothing to do with EU permits, why is it free? Non-EEA family members of British nationals do not theoretically need a visa to enter Schengen territory. Which is why the family members who ...

I have seen non-EEA people go through the UK/EEA queue with (a person who I assume was) their spouse, and have their passport stamped . Chances are you must have seen that happen before the EEA Immigration Regulations 2006 was implemented since when the passports of non-EEA family members may not b...

No bigie ilm, I do that all the time. But just to mention that while a short period between the marriage/first-meeting and the time of application is not usually something to fret about, if a marriage of convenience is suspected it can become a factor as it is one of the strictly applied criteria to...

A look around the board will show that a lot of applications made right after the marriage will not be rejected just because of the short time between the marriage and the spouse visa application. Also attach photographs as proof of a marriage ceremony and any proof that you had of contact with each...

A marriage certificate issued in Malaysia and recognised by the Malaysian authorities is also recognised by the British authorities. So you will be able to appy for the spouse visa after you get married in Malaysia. Having not much in the form of savings will not be a problem as long as you can show...

But I do think it's open to manipulation in order to gain entry to UK. Let's say a parent is a dependent of a son in his home country, decides he fancies living with his son in the UK, and so 'decides' is home son is persona non-grata Sorry to be an accomplice in a hijacking, but I must admit that ...

Thanks for the info, but non-visa nationals married to spanish nationals can anyway apply for the residency without the "visados de reargupacion" after just turning up over in Spain. So, I guess its almost normal that they would also let them do the same with any other EEA national as well...

The way I see it, it is not really the OP who has confused the matters up. Having been admitted as a dependant and then given a Residence Card that tells you that you can work, what else can one expect? Funny when you come to think of it- even though you are entitled to work as a dependant, the mome...

meinkaninchen, as you are currently on the Residence Card issued to the non-EEA family member of an EEA national, you are not considered as being granted leave to remain under the Immigration rules but rather under the EEA Regulations. Doc, can you help me with this? As part of my understand and learning curve! How can you become dependent by choice? By deliberately putting yourself into a position of needing support from family? Something here doesn't make sense. Are you saying you got your ILR on 29th March 2006, but your husband only got his in September 2006? But then you say you all applied together, so this is inconsistent information. ...or a simpler explanation- they would have applied for the PR/ILR in March 2006, ...

bell01204, your nationality has nothing to do with travel insurance. You will be needing one whether you are British or from any other country in this whole wide world. If you and your husband decide that you need to get one, all you have to do is find the right one and buy it... as simple as that. ...
