Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Ok, I know I have another question pending above (adoptee), but I have one more perhaps the fine folks here can lend some insight: If my Grandmother was born in Ireland that makes her daughter (my mother) automatically an Irish citizen. She can apply straightaway for her first Irish passport as she...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

My passport is due to be issued by the end of the month. The whole process getting the FBR and passport will have taken me 9 months. Not too bad I say! :D I just submitted my passport via the London embassy. Good luck to those of you who are doing the same. It's great when the FBR arrives :D Passpo...

Re: Irish Citizenship Through Great-Grandfather

Thanks for the replies everyone. As I suspected, I’ve missed it by one generation unfortunately. It seems every avenue I go down to try and remain in the UK I miss out because of something stupid. I take it claiming UK citizenship is also limited to two generations? I believe it is limited to those...

Re: Irish Citizenship Through Great-Grandfather

Hey mate, thanks for the reply. My grandfather was born on the 24th of August, 1922. Bearing in mind I'm no expert on this - just have an Irish grandfather and Irish family, UK born and bred but living in Ireland for the last year or so. IMHO, prior to 6th December 1922 anyone born in Ireland was a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

It sounds like you'd need to apply for your baby to be put onto the FBR. You’re an angel! Thanks for clarifying everything. Usually how long is the processing for an infant?(if requirements are correct and complete) We just want our baby to be here already as i can’t stop thinking about how she is ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

These people were applying to put themselves on the FBR before the birth of their child so that they could pass citizenship onto them. They had to show proof of pregnancy so that they themselves were registered before the birth so they coup pass it on. I presume that you have an Irish parent? Nope....

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

You'd need to present your child's birth certificate and your documents and the grandparent's Irish docs. Thanks! But why do some people needs to present proof of pregnancy? Or some needs to inform them before they give birth? I dont understand that. These people were applying to put themselves on ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Hi Folks, I've printed my FB1A form and just had it witnessed. So far, so good. The question I have is about proof of residence documents. Are original documents required or are internet print-outs of PDF documents sufficient? The guidance suggests utility bills, bank statements and council tax bil...

Bluey , what do you mean "populate" it?
Fills it in for you. From what I remember it creates a PDF for you to download and send in with your application.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

It looks as though applications that go over to Dublin are processed a few weeks faster. I also expect that the mad rush may have died down some what now, but who knows. I just posted my passport application off, so fingers crossed that will all be OK. Not sure if I will see it this side of Christma...

Mine has arrived!! It took just over 5 months, very happy. Does anyone know if you can use Passport Express via the embassy in London?
Great news!
Thanks! I was actually entered into the FBR in mid October, it seems if you're sent off to Dublin they get through them a bit quicker.

First Time Passport with FBR

Hi How long did it take for people to get a passport via London? Any tips for when applying? Do you need to include envelopes for the return of passport/ documents? I'd rather my passport was sent out tracked and signed for. I also read your witness should stamp your photos. Can they not just sign t...

Hi all, Longtime lurker here, thought I would join in on the conversation. US citizen, mom's stepmother (legally adopted) was Irish.
