technically, getting promoted from Band 5 to Band 6 does not imply you're changing emplyers. As long as you still working at the same hospital regrdless of which unit then you are will covered by your current work permit. You only need a transfer of work permit if you move to another hospital within...

Congratulations! I know the feeling cause I've been through the same experience. Had my citizenhip recently as well. With all the visa applications, fees and all the retroactive immigration policy changes, it was a very difficult experience but at least it's all over. No more visits to the home offi...

I've done similar thing before. But wht I've done was that I entered the US before the expiration of the temporary permanent visa. I brought my visa papers with me as they were required to be submitted at the first point of entry because I was entering as a permanent resident. Afterwards a couple we...

Based on my experience 5 years ago, you have to get married here in UK first then he has to go back from where he's currently residing and apply for Dependant Visa from there. Once he gets the Dependant Visa, then he can immediately come back here and work.

Unless your profession or area of expertise is one of the jobs that are listed on the shortage list then it will be very difficult for to find a company willing to sponsor you. And even if it is, the company has to prove that they cannot find someone to fill the job within the EU. Best way really is...

Maybe I'm missing something but... http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitizenship/eligibility/naturalisation/absencesfromuk/ This suggests it is possible to have absences in the final year over 100 days and up to 180 days if the residence requirements over the qualifying period are met and you...

okay..so as long as she doesnt exceed 2 years then she can come back here and submit an application. Do I undestant that correctly? I think I read it as when she comes back she has to spend a year in UK. less 90 days allowance. I'm confused as hell tho! The quote by Parvus is irrelevant, as the 2-y...

(I am confused about something...I thought you needed to have six years' residency for naturalisation? Why does it still say five??) Five years' residency for naturalisation is right. But in order to be given ILR or permanent residency, most people have to have been in the UK for five years. And th...

I suggest she gets back to the UK quickly! There are a number of tests here but the one that seems most relevant is that in the last year prior to applying for Naturalisation the applicant must be outside the UK no more than 90 days. OK, a bit of leeway on the 90 day number, but not a lot. No way c...

I appreciate the prompt response.

But do you have to be phisically present in the UK on the date you QUALIFY or the date you APPLY??? I think they are two different things.

Citizenship Application from Outside UK

Hi, I have this situation where I really need some insights about applying Naturalisation from outside the UK. My wife and I have been granted ILR on April2007 which means by April2008, we should technically be eligible for Naturalisation. My wife is now living in the US since June2008 while decided...

I arrived May'03, granted ILR May'07 and have lived in UK since I arrived. From what you guys are saying, it means I am now eligible to apply. Is that correct?

Naturalisation after 1 year ILR

Hi, I just need some help on information on my eligibility to apply Citizenship. My wife arrived here 6 years (2002) ago on a work permit, then I also moved a year after (2003). We were granted ILR 2007. My question is can I apply for Citizenship without my wife because my wife has moved to the US p...

If you planning to stay and live here permanently, I believe you have just compromised your 5-year work permit. As I have said after when that 5-year WP expires you need to renew and re-apply for FLR in order to complete 5 years..but with the way BAO/HO are implementing retrospective changes, you mi...

I personally dont see any problem with that however, your ILR clock will only start once you entered UK. Which means by the time your 5-yr work permit expires, you need to have it extended and also your leave to remain. That will mean extra costs..and also 5 yrs from now, immigration laws might have...
