Germany language requirements

I am looking to move to Germany with my husband. He is German and I am Canadian. We have lived in the UK for 5 years together as a married couple. I am educated to the PhD level. I understand that I am able to enter Germany with my husband as a Canadian and apply for residency from within the countr...

Re: Earliest time to apply for non EEA PR

If you wait until Jan 21, this it will be a clear-cut case. It's only a matter of a few weeks, so I personally would do it to avoid adding complexity to the application. Time spent as a jobseeker can count, but requires more documentation to prove than being employed, so I'm not sure the gain in a c...

Re: Passport not returned after 10 working days - EEA2 applicati

In the end I emailed a very long and detailed recounting of events to the ROD email address and CC-ed my MP and Mark Thomson (Director General). I received a reply later that morning from the Home Office File Management Team (LNCW) explaining that my passport had been lost in the post with Royal Mai...

Delivery service used for residency card

Does anyone know what delivery service the Home Office uses for residency cards? I know they send documents by Royal Mail, but is this also the case for the biometric residency cards?

Re: EU citizen as PhD student with non-EEA spouse

There is some further guidance from the Home Office here: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/431618/comprehensive_sickness_insurance_for_family_members_of_students.pdf To me the guidance sounds like it doesn't matter if she's employed or not, you need to have C...

Re: Does the Home Office ever provide proof of postage?

At long last, I have my documents. On Nov 9 I emailed rodrequestsect@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk and received a reply the same day with an update on my documents. I CC-ed my MP and Mark Thomson. I was amazed to get a personal reply the same day, as 4 phone calls and 3 forms had resulted in no useful respo...

Re: EEA(PR) Confusion, please help (CSI question)

From what I understand, you would have to apply on the basis of 5 years of continuous working or job seeking as the way that you exercised your treaty rights. I ended up applying for a EEA FM again after 5 years on an EEA FM as we didn't have CSI for the 3 years that we were students, making me inel...

Re: Urgent! EEA2 Passport Return

Glad you got your documents! I would advise everyone planning to ask for their passport back to give it plenty (like LOTS) of time before you need to travel. I asked for mine back 6 weeks ago (and have chased twice with the form and four times on the phone. I'm posting a letter today).

Re: Does the Home Office ever provide proof of postage?

Apart from getting my local MP involved and writing directly to the Home Office European Team, does anyone have other ideas on how to put pressure on the Home Office to find my documents? I'm assuming they are either internally misplaced at UKVI or lost in the post. Is there any use writing the mayo...

Re: Does the Home Office ever provide proof of postage?

In a strange turn of events, the Home Office sent me my marriage certificate this week. It is under a different tracking number than I was previously provided for my original request for my passport and recently dated (Nov 1). I never asked for my marriage certificate to be sent and frankly don't ne...

NHS access while documents with Home Office

Does anyone have experience with accessing NHS while all your identification documents are with the Home Office? I've just got a somewhat scary letter saying that the front desk of the hospital could deny me treatment if I am not able to show my passport and visa. Is proof of application enough? I a...

Hi Elizabella, would you be so kind as to tell me which online form did you use to communicate with Home Office regarding your documents and telephone numbers for helpline? Thanks Hi djgrubber. There are two forms. The initial request form is: https://eforms.homeoffice.gov.uk/outreach/Return_of_Doc...

Re: Unemployed housewife of BC

It doesn't sound like you have been 'exercising your treaty rights' for the past 5 years, so wouldn't be eligible to apply for PR under the EEA route. You can see more about the categories here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/eea-nationals-eun01/eea-nationals-eun01 Basically you need to ...

I am having trouble recovering documents that the Home Office allegedly posted 3 weeks ago. Passports & documents lost by Royal Mail

Has anyone who applied for an EEA(FM) had an experience of their documents being lost in the post after submitting a return of documents request? My passport, still valid residence card, and my husband's EU ID card were posted 02/10/2017 by Royal Mail 'signed for'. I was only informed of this by the...

Re: Comprehensive Sickness Insurance for past years

CSI applies to most EU host states and is not UK specific as far as I understand. http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/health/when-living-abroad/health-insurance-cover/index_en.htm From what I understand about the EU, the focus is on EEA residents from other countries being treated like locals.
