You can wait for confirmation....but I'm nearly positive that you can't apply for a settlement visa when in the UK on a visit and certainly not on a VV.

You have to understand that the Government just want to know that you can support him and I'm sorry to say but if your not working then you are only giving them a reason to refuse you....unfortunately you getting a job and having some savings is the best way to guarantee that he gets a visa. That's ...

I don't think it is really a case of getting the resident card....I know for a fact a friend of mine had to prove she was working in another member state even though her husband had had his RC for years, before they would issue a Family Permit! That is the whole point of EU law you have to had been ...

Obie I think you see everything in black and white....and immigration certainly don't see it that way they see lots of grey....it will be difficult for the OP to get his wife on a flight without a visa (maybe not impossible). And since she is pregnant why risk it...the visa should be issue free and ...

I'm kinda on the same page as Rozen! Your savings will really help but you are going to have to go to another country and get married and pay for a spouse visa???? Which is real expensive. You say he is from a really nice African country eh are they all not nice? Do you not want to tell us where he ...

Sorry but totally agree with Rozen they don't care..... The chances of being issued a spouse visa will be slim if you can't provide evidence that you will not become a burden to the state? Can you not get a job??? Not sure if you have one? But that will be a big step forward. Also what are his finan...

You can actually stay in any country within the EU for 3 months without the need to work....but I suppose you have to show evidence to support yourselves...and I'm sure a job offer is acceptable! As to travel to the UK you will have to apply for a visa for your wife which should be issued free of ch...

Jaj - really I had thought if you entered under EU Law rather than UK National Law you could not change in-country....ie you entered under EUlaw you apply for naturalization as the spouse of an EU national not a british national?? So that's incorrect?

So it's three years right?
One year reckonable residence before application and at least 2 of the previous 4 years prior to application? Can one of those 2 years not count as the 1 year reckonable residence?
