A child born to a british parent is automatically British, regardless of where they are born. Child will be British by descent.
Hi CR001,
Can you please advise with the question asked? Many thanks

Re: British Citizenship for two children

Thank you once more. I have sole responsibility for my eldest child. My wife (ie stepmother) is on spousal visa. Do I have to wait until she get ILR before I can apply citizenship for the eldest child? I read some where on the forum that, for children born abroad, one parent has to be citizen and th...

Re: Cancellation of British Citizenship

The DNA of the child is irrelevant if the mother was married at the time of the child. For the purposes of nationality law, the father of a child is the husband or male civil partner of the mother of the child. (9)For the purposes of this Act a child’s mother is the woman who gives birth to the chi...

Cancellation of British Citizenship

Case scenario.... Mother and daughter joined husband who's a British citizen through naturalisation. With the child born in Ghana and the father being British she automatically acquired citizenship and was given a British passport before travelling to the UK. Years later through DNA, the father has ...

Older children generally require 2 years residence before they can apply for citizenship.

Details are in the MN1 guidance notes for registrations under section 3(1), page 15.
Thanks

Re: Non eu family member with settled status.

Topics merged. You cannot sponsor your child under the EU rules or EU settlement scheme if you are not an EU citizen. You have to apply under the much more expensive UK visa route. Where is the child's other parent? You would still need to prove sole responsibility as you were already advised in Au...

Non eu family member with settled status.

Hi, I had PR and recently applied for the eu settlement scheme. I have been granted settled status. I am in the process of submitting a settlement visa for my daughter in Ghana. Do I go ahead with the same application as if I held PR? I am divorced from my eu wife.

Yes and it's because you have to declare that you are now divorce.Even if you are still together they will request for the EU ID/Passport and marriage cert as a married person but you are not now.
Hi wise, how long ago did you apply? How long did the decision take? Sorry for bothering you😀😀

Re: Retain rights of residence and student loans

Because you're now divorced the loan will not be granted and is without right of appeal against. That's where they stand as far as I've experience. The family member on your RC is just a fomality because you've Retained your right on your own merit but they chose not to change it to be ex. Hi wise,...

My understanding is that you need 3 years residence AND settled status (PR).
Thanx for the reply....so from your understanding I don't qualify because I don't have permanent residence status? If that's the case why am I still being classed a family member of EU national.
