Pay slips do not show that you can support yourself. If you don't send bank statements you are liable for refusal.

If you are the only director of the limited company I'd probably say you were self employed. But it really doesn't matter.

Is the 14 year rule still going to apply, whent he changes to the general grounds of refusal will also apply to in-country applications for leave to remain?

Non-UK nationals can get security cleared. There are plenty of US national interns working in government departments and the Houses of Parliament.

But it has to be applied for by the employer.

If you marry her then you can apply, with the same documents you used for your own entry clearance. Make sure that the salary you earn is enough to support two people, and there should be no problems.

The bad news is...this has been addressed...and BIA have said that those given removal notices whilst they are about to leave voluntarily are still stuffed for 10 years like everyone else...

yep, that's right. As long as you marry and apply before the WP runs out, you can switch to spouse from within the UK.

Send evidence that the kids are in school, and any letters from family members indicating that she will return, and try to get these to the court in advance of the hearing.

Call the Judge 'Sir'.

These issues often go on whether the witness and sponsors seem honest to the Judge.

My guess would be... Landed at Heathrow and was taken to a different gate within the same terminal, therefore never going landside. Then, going through the domestic arrivals gate at Manchester, there was obviously no immigration officers there. Annoying, foolish, remiss, but not illegal. I think I'd...
