For info, the hsmp is now granted for two years, so you have more time to ensure that you meet the criteria for the extension.

If the child is born outside of the UK and you then bring him / her back to the UK, and you are clearly still settled here, then it may be possible for you to get him registered as British under a concession, even though he was born overseas. You would need to show that the trip abroad for the birth...

1. How days before the completion of 10 years period he could apply for ILR? Is it max. upto 28 days before the completion of 10 years he could apply? Other than passports is there anything else he needs to send (like bank statement, payslip)? 28 days in advance if applying by post. If there are co...

He must make an application to the Home Office by tomorrow at the latest, without his passport if necessary. They won't approve it without his passport, but at least he will remain legally in the UK if the application is in.

He must send it recorded delivery and keep the receipt.

Oh, I totally agree, they need to be exposed, just be careful how you do it. For example....posting it here, with names, or posting it on any other board or telling your friends, leaves you at risk. Telling a journalist, thereby leaving them to do the research and get the claim backed up with eviden...

There is no automatic provision for someone on discretionary leave to be able to sponsor their spouse, but you can try. AN application can be made without your passport, if you send your birth certificate and other documents showing your residency and your status. However, if your leave is up for re...

Even if he were born after 1983, you could apply using the UK rules, as Irish nationals coming to the Uk will be treated as if they are settled. he has no need to apply for his British passport to do any of this. It is very difficult to get residence visas for parents under retirement age. have a lo...

Perhaps the moderators would like to remove or lock this one?

That's not a TWES! That's a full work permit.

I am going to continue this chat in the other board if that is okay.

The Liverpool address should be on the website too.

The overstay will affect the application, I don't think her claiming benefits will.

They are in Liverpool, and they are one of the few branches of the Home Office who actually answer the phones.

Numbers are on the BIA website.

yes, but as he came though Dublin and did not get registered as having entered on this date, then his entry won't be mentioned on the SAB. that is why I am suggesting that if he wants to apply going by this date then he will have to do it by post.

I'm not sure that will make any difference. The SAB will only tell us what we know - the date he came in to the UK, and the date his visa was endorsed.

it is possible to apply for ILR at the same day service, but you should only do so if your applictaion is absolutely straight forward, otherwise you risk not just a wasted journey but possibly losing £950! Once you have ILR you can apply for your parents to come and live with you if they meet the c...

You should be eligible from September 2007, so can apply in August, but it might be safer to wait until Jan if that is what the stamp in the passport says. Once you have the ILR, your family can apply as your dependents, but your wife will not get ILR unless she has also been here 10 years. Not a go...

Back in 2004 the FLR rules were different, and the issuing of the work permit gave permission to work from that date (as detailed ont he permit itself). As a consequence, I believe that the date of issue of the work permit can be taken as the date from which the 5 years begins. This is different fro...
