Re: EU settlement - Non EU family member - CoA and decision time

@Hayley1, Bunny47 mentioned 80 days. I thimk he misheard (they sound similar, don't they? - 80 and 18). This is ALL I wanted to say. To give you some hope... you see.

I think it was 18 - not 80 days.

Sorry I meant your partner's ID. Would it be possible for you to send his original ID or passport to Liverpool as soon as possible? Say, this week?

Re: Will I get settled or pre-settled status?

Also, if there is particular pressure to get numbers through (reduce the number of outstanding cases), it stands to reason that staff would prioritise the easier, more straightforward cases To me it appears to be the most obvious reason. I would add general incompetence. If the Home Office were a p...

Re: Should I apply for EEA2 or Pre-settled (Very confused)

What Camoe wrote regarding CoA and your right to work was exactly what I meant. You can still apply for jobs - your future employer will have to check online with the Home Office whether you are allowed or not. You will get your documents soon, I hope. As to e-mails - they rarely do it. If you don't...

Re: Should I apply for EEA2 or Pre-settled (Very confused)

Even if they contact you, what can you do?
When is your partner coming back? if ever.
You have 6 months to sort out your status. You have no automatic rights before that (because you and your partner are not married).

Re: Should I apply for EEA2 or Pre-settled (Very confused)

Now I understand why you are so nervous. When is your partner coming back? You are unmarried parners so you might NOT get "long" CoA after all, even if the application is not rejected as invalid. HO wants to see original passports actually. I would send the original passport by registered ...

Re: EU settlement - Non EU family member - CoA and decision time

For some reason, people assume that the new scheme should be an easier way to get confirmation of their rights (right to stay and work), when in fact, it is an application for PERMISSION to stay. This is why we might not get confirmation of our right to work. This is a transition period and things c...

She can definitely apply for a pre-settled status in her own right, providing she is a qualified person. You will save huge amount of money but your wife will likely lose 2.5 years on her path to permanent residency. I don't know what your aspirations are, as a family. As to the children - why can't...

Why did you move to that country in the first place? Just before Brexit, too.
You certainly didn't intend to stay there.

I began to understand why people of this country want to be out of EU.

Which country was it, by the way? Where residence cards are issued in 2 weeks'time?

What's his nationality?
Kamoe, the father is just visiting - what does it matter where he comes from? If he were from the U.S. or Australia, or such, he wouldn't even need a visa to come to Europe. The father obviously has no status in Belgium.
