Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Hello I am in the process of finishing my details for form UKM and hope to have it submitted sometime next week. I do have a couple questions regarding it that I hope the wisdom of the posters on this thread may enlighten me. 1. You mother's birth certificate is sufficient to show her British citiz...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Hello, I am also applying for BC. Can you tell me how your approval letter was delivered? Did it come via courier or vfaglobal? Approval letter came from UKVI in Liverpool via DHL. All correspondence comes from UKVI. VFS Global is just an agency. Btw, my sister, who lives in England and applied for...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Just received my UK passport, and these boards have been a great help, so here goes. Eligibility: like the OP my case is non-standard. Both my parents were born in Australia and only my paternal grandfather was UK born. However, my parents married before 1.1.49, when my father became a CUKC by desce...

Re: UKM or naturalisation? Which is better?

Oh, I see, I was confused. My sister should just apply first for her daughter under 3(1) because given neither parents are currently British citizens, citizenship otherwise than by descent would be granted. UKM registration by my sister might in fact impact adversely, though it seems unlikely UK imm...

Re: UKM or naturalisation? Which is better?

Ah, very interesting. Yes, it appears reading the guidelines for registration of children that my sister should first register via UKM. This establishes that she would have become a citizen at birth if women had been able to pass on citizenship to their children at that time. I'm not sure if UKM reg...

Re: UKM or naturalisation? Which is better?

Thanks vinny. So are you saying my sister's citizenship is irrelevant to her daughter's registration and future citizenship status (by descent or otherwise), so my sister might as well go the easier UKM route?

UKM or naturalisation? Which is better?

I am an Australian citizen and resident but recently acquired British citizenship via a non-standard UKM registration (long story but my parents were both born in Australia, and only my paternal grandfather was UK-born). This query, however, is about my sister, also an Australian citizen eligible fo...
