Type 4 (Child) - Application Deferred

I'm having trouble getting my son's student visa approved and wanted to ask for some advice from folks on the board here. Background: I (applicant's father) was born in Germany in the early 80s to two British parents. My father was working for a large corporation and was transferred to Germany for w...

Re: Spouse Visa Financial Requirements

I see, got it thanks. She would definitely be applying from her home country, that's clear.

Re: Spouse Visa Financial Requirements

This topic has all become a bit of a mishmash because separate topics were merged. My most recent post was about my mother's American partner's visa extension, and meeting the financial obligations for that (specifically whether foreign pension would be acceptable). Anyway, in response to sadmanonat...

Re: Spouse Visa Financial Requirements

Many thanks all, that's reassuring.

My mother is likely due some sort of UK pension as she did work as an RN for a few years.

All others (European pensions) were supposed to be split with my father when they separated, but weren't. Long story.

Re: Spouse Visa Financial Requirements

You're right vinny, I got the wrong end of the stick. They are going the Appendix FM route (which means this thread is in the wrong place, sorry) and need to satisfy FM-SE. They were advised that it is better to use my British mother's income rather than her partner's pension to satisfy the visa req...

Re: Topic Deleted - Why?

Ah, many thanks for the clarification, got it! I started a new topic as I felt it was different (visa for the retired partner of my British mother vs family visas for my spouse and child) but the question is also about proving the income requirement. I don't mind either way, happy to continue the to...

Topic Deleted - Why?

My topic asking about financial requirements posted here earlier today was deleted. I've had a look through the FAQs and announcements, can't find what I could have done wrong. Why would this be?

Financial Requirements

Hi, my question is about meeting the financial requirements for tier 1 visa. My mother and her American partner have been in the UK for two years now, and they will need to renew his visa in about 6 months. They are both retired. When they arrived, they had enough in savings to meet the requirements...

Re: Spouse Visa Financial Requirements

Thanks seagul.

Has anyone else ever tried to prove foreign income for the purpose of spouse / family visas?

Spouse Visa Financial Requirements

We will be applying for a spouse visa for my wife in 2019 and I wanted to hear feedback regarding the financial requirement from others that have already done this. I am an expat, returning to the UK with wife (non-EU) and child. I understand that I must show an annual income of GBP 22,400 or saving...

Re: Routes for Child Citizenship

Many thanks for the clarity secret.simon, much appreciated! Son's citizenship trumps tax liabilities, so the UK resident for 3 years route is likely the path we will follow.

Re: Routes for Child Citizenship

Many thanks Secret.Simon, that was very enlightening! I had overlooked the fact that I would have had to have been resident 3 years BEFORE my son's birth. So that route is out of the window now. The EEA passport route is also out - he holds only a Filipino passport. He does have grandparents (and on...

Routes for Child Citizenship

I am British by descent only; born in Germany 1982 to two British parents (non-military or government service). I married a non-British (and non-EU) person, and my son was born outside the UK. This makes my son ineligible for citizenship (I have been told). I'm trying to understand the possible rout...
