No big deal, just write to the Home Office with Home Office ref # you would have received in your acknowledgement letter and furnish the information. There is no need to worry. Section 1.28 is to verify whether your wife is entitled to British Citizenship through parentage. According to your informa...

Contribution based job seekers allowance

This is not an immigration question.

I would like to know, is contribution based job seekers allowance considered public funds? How is it different than income-based JSA?

Did you ask for a refund? You are entitled to one if it does take more than a week, that's the whole point of it. The one caveat is that you cannot get a refund if the reason for the delay was that there was noone around to sign for the delivery. No I haven't asked for refund and you are right I am...

How long did it take you to get an appointment for the fast track service?
You cannot book more than two weeks in advance for an appointment. I used fast track 1 week guaranteed service but it took longer with no apparent reason.

Based on the news posted on the thread below: http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=15423 If the US government cancells visa waiver program for UK, then I guess those of us who have dual nationality and multiple visas for USA on non-British passport can request the US embassy to transfer ...

My council did not have private ceremony facility, so the only option we had was to wait for the available date given by them for public ceremony.

Transferring other visas on British Passport

Forgive my ignorance if this post should not be in this thread. Under the visa waiver programme as British citizen one is allowed to travel to those countries for three months period. Beyond that period they have to obtain visa. On my non-British passport I have ten years of multiple entry visa to U...

SK1: I take it you also have British Citizenship?
Yes,

Nonetheless, I do not wish to start this debate again but want to reiterate my understanding on this view and confirmed from IND, i.e. your ILR is valid on your non-British passport.

SKI: It should be okay for us to travel with our SA passports with ILR stamps?
I just returned from USA on my non-British passport with ILR, no problem.

You have a valid passport and a valid ILR, so travel freely with no worries.

Unless she changes her two year spouse visa category to some other visa, your wife cannot obtain an ILR based on marriage because she will require your signature on the application form, plus she will have to prove that you two have been living together.

Date of Naturalization

After a successful application, from legal point of view, when is someone recognized as British Citizen:

- Is it the date on the naturalization certificate?
or
- Is it the date of ceremony when the certificate is awarded?
or
- Is it the date on the approval letter?

My current name and name at is the same. The approval letter mentions what details will be written on the certificate. Full name, date of birth and place of birth are correct, however the name at birth is blank. Should I be concerned?

If you don't mind asking what is the date on the letter of acknowledgement? Just curious to know how much delay is attributed to HO mailroom in posting the letters. I guess initimation letters are sent by second class postage.

In fact I would suggest the naturalisation fees are substantially less than a "month's wage" for most skilled migrants (otherwise something is seriously not right). A post-dcotoral research fellow after tax gets around £1500 per month. Imagine someone with family and having to apply with ...
