1. If they are women (and if later separated / divorced) , they still use their married surname on the Indian passport and keep their new suname (probably their original one) on the UK one. This is fraud, but neither the UK authorities nor the Indian ones have figured out a way of tracking this fra...

Sorry mate, the Right of Abode (ROA) does not exist anymore for anyone holding a UK passport. So make up your mind and tell your relatives to do the same: that they either have a UK passport + OCI sticker OR UK passport + PIO card OR a Indian passport + valid UK visa (e.g.: ILR sticker or Visa vigi...

You can register online:

https://passport.gov.in/oci/OnlineOCIRegistrationG.jsp

Follow the instructions.

You can get the passport cancelled with the application. Just have a covering letter. Send a stamped envelope. They only use Registered post. So make sure you pay for it.

You have to fill in the application online. Take 2 print outs. And send BOTH to the high commission with the necessary documents. The whole process should take less than 30 days. I don't think you need to send the foreign passport first. Then check online for status. Once the documents are received ...

hey, Reading your previous posts I can see why you have made certain comments and assertions. You clearly know that certain things you have mentioned are illegal, but considering the Indian politics and law, there is always a way out. You have to be really unlucky to get stuck! Indeed. I think, Once your parents reach 10 years, and if you are still a dependent, then you can get ILR. But to be considered a dependent you have to be under 18.

Infact, even though you have the same name. They usually check, if you are the right person by the Place of birth. So, there shouldn't be a problem really.

I think British and mahil2000 have been a little premature to accuse you of being a criminal. You need to be charged, tried and convicted before that is the case and I'd be willing to bet that that will never happen, particular because the Indian embassy has no way of knowing. For the record, I did...

To India I mean. Have you got any criminal record in India? If you do, that could be a reason. I just said that, because it maybe that someone might have forged a passport in your name or something like that, that could explain a large delay. Your name could be the same of some wanted person or some...

They probably have a lot of work. So that could maybe the reason for delay. It could even be because there are security problems with your passport. Who knows? Maybe they prioritise OCI holders cancelling their passports first.

But I would expect it back in 2 weeks.

Are you applying for OCI? I think it can take around 2 weeks. Depends on their work load. The fastest I have heard is 10 days for the whole OCI process to be done inc. cancellation of Indian passport.
