Re: Europe settlement

In other words, I applied for the Blue Card before I had a job offer. I now wonder if I helped myself in any way.

Re: Europe settlement

OP should look into EU BLUE CARD. This is issued super easily for professionals in the field of STEM with solid job offers exceeding a certain income threshold, which is not hard to do given the high salaries in Berlin, Amsterdam. No language knowledge is necessary but I think a higher education de...

Re: Guernsey Investor Visa

Thanks a lot for the information. I have read in a couple of non-government websites that the Guernsey Investor Visa leads to UK citizenship but there are no details provided on how this path works. The Channel Islands are part of the Common Travel Area. Do you think this allows a Guernsey Investor ...

Guernsey Investor Visa

Anyone with experience applying for this visa? There appears to be an option to deposit £750,000 in a Guernsey bank to qualify for the visa. Does this visa allow you to eventually qualify for UK citizenship?

Re: Stamp 0

I am not sure what policy review Minister F is referring to that has "recently been completed" other than the one from the Fall of 2016 but perhaps there is still time for Stamp 0 hopefuls to be heard on this issue before we are burdened with a policy that does not work for many of us.

Re: American buying and using a holiday home in the UK

Station Agent, so evidence of owning a UK home is not a good fact for the I/O regardless if I follow all your suggestions?

Re: American buying and using a holiday home in the UK

Station Agent, thanks again. I have been advised by others to always carry with me proof of financial condition, US residence, US employment, and health insurance.

Re: American buying and using a holiday home in the UK

Station Agent, if what you are saying is true, that's some of the best news I have received in a while! Others on thi and other forums are less optimistic however. Do you think UK border staff has faced this situation in the past? Seems reasonable that more than a handful of Americans own a flat in ...

Re: American buying and using a holiday home in the UK

So, a "genuine visitor" from the US can stay in the UK up to six months as a tourist but if it's done too often it's considered suspect? Not sure then why they let you do it even once. Also wonder why they let foreigners purchase holiday homes without restrictions but i guess that's a some...

Re: American buying and using a holiday home in the UK

Thanks again Casa. I am still finding some contradictory information in these responses but perhaps the best takeaway is that UK border control uses quite a bit of discretion in determining if someone is a "de facto" resident. Not the kind of feedback that encourages foreigners to purchase...

Re: American buying and using a holiday home in the UK

Thanks Casa. You sound very knowledgeable. May I ask what exactly is the difference between a validity period and a term? Is it not true that an American can visit the UK for up to 6 months and then leave for another 6 months? This was implied in your earlier post "as a visitor, you are unable ...

Re: American buying and using a holiday home in the UK

Have UK immigration officials provided any guidance to non-EEA buyers of residential property in the UK? I am considering buying a flat in London to use for extended periods as permitted under UK tourist visa rules for Americans. When not for personal use, I am considering renting it out. Is this p...

Stamp 0

Anyone know the current status of the Stamp 0 immigration category for non-EEA nationals wishing to live in Ireland? Is INIS applying the changed criteria laid out in early 2015 or the proposed criteria announced in late 2016?

American buying and using a holiday home in Ireland

I know that Americans can purchase houses in Ireland without restrictions. I also know that Americans are entitled to stay in Ireland for 90 days. This appears pretty straight forward but I still have the following questions: 1. If I buy a holiday home in Ireland, can I freely travel to Ireland and ...
