Best EU countries to buy a home

Taking all costs into account - closing costs, capital gains taxes, inheritance taxes, annual real estate taxes - which European countries have the lowest costs for the purchase and eventual resale of a primary residence? Thanks in advance.

Converting French Titre de Sejour to Blue Card?

I have a Titre de Sejour (Talent Passport) for France but want to be able to open up offices in other EU countries such as Spain or Italy. Is there a way to convert my TdS to say an EU blue card or another category to allow me to live and work in a country other than France - maybe split my time 50-...

Incubator Visa for Ireland

Anyone familiar with the Incubator Visa programme? As I understand it, it acts as a a pre-STEP programme that gives an individual the right to live in Ireland for up to one year while they plan their Irish business by joining an approved Irish startup incubator/accelerator. No upfront financial inve...

Re: Schengen Visa / Financial Requirement

Are you sure its 84 euros per day regardless of whether you have secured housing? In France the daily amount depends on whether you have prepaid for a place to live like a hotel or airbnb or have secured housing by staying with a friend.

Re: Owning a business in Ireland

Understood. Yes, owning a business and working for a business are two different things. Owning a business creates jobs but working a job takes jobs away from Irish citizens. So I think there should be different rules for immigration. Do any IIP investors get their money back? My guess is that these ...

Re: Owning a business in Ireland

"There is also a special IIP scheme which allows you to obtain a Stamp 4 but has no residence requirement whatsoever. The requirement isn't very high but places are quite limited."

You say the requirement isn't high but doesn't this IIP program require an investment of 1 million Euros?

Re: Owning a business in Ireland

Thanks. So if you want to own a business AND live in Ireland, you need to apply for permission as an employee? Many startup founders have no employment contracts or salary. Are there any special rules for this situation?

Owning a business in Ireland

Are there any restrictions for a non-EEA citizen to own a business in Ireland? If a person also wishes to work for the business in Ireland in an executive capacity, is the immigration process the same as for employment? If the owner/executive spends the majority of their time in their home country, ...

Re: Time outside of France for CDS

Thanks for your effort in checking it out. I will ask the prefecture but think that one person's opinion may not matter when I am back in a year to renew my cds and am sitting in front of a different official. May need to simply take my chances. Maintaining a residience and paying taxes may be one w...

Time outside of France for CDS

To maintain one’s carte de sejour I am to understand that one must “reside” in France for at least six months each year. What if part of your job for a French company is to travel outside of France for extended periods? Does this business travel count towards the six months in France or the six mont...

France Passeport Talent Visa

Anyone with experience or knowledge in applying for a passeport talent visa for France? I am an American who has a job offer in France for a new high tech start-up company. I would like to know how to apply for a visa under the Passeport Talent category? Re: Long-term resident EC moving into another Member State

That's the idea but remains to be seen how receptive the receiving member state will be as I suspect they don't like to do it. You will still have to register of course and I am not sure how access to public health care would work. Also not sure if LTR-EC is valid in the UK, Ireland or Denmark as th...

Re: Working in US for a French Company

No, I doubt I will need to visit the Schengen (outside of France) for more than a few months a year. My problem is that I may want to return to the US for more than 90 days each year. That's the nature of the job - working for a French company but traveling to USA quite often. Also, as I stated, it ...

Re: Working in US for a French Company

Thanks but I am only allowed to visit France visa free for 90 days and, as I understand it, to "attend or participate in trade fairs, seminars or conferences related to your professional activity". Perhaps there is a longer term work visa I can get?

6 Months Visa Free In the UK?

I read that as an American tourist, a person can visit the UK for up to 6 months. However, I also read that if you first enter Ireland and transit to the UK you will get an EU stamp in your passport that only allows you to visit the UK for 3 months. This is due to the Travel Common Area which allows...

Concerning American tourists to the EU, does anyone know if, once your 90 days in the Schengen Area is expired, can you then travel to Ireland for 90 days in order to reset? Ireland of course is not part of Schengen.

Yes, I have been on this site recently looking for reasonable paths to permanent residency in the EU. Unfortunately, my situation is rather unusual and I still do not have most of the answers I seek. In this case, trying to understand how a Unbefristete Niederlassungserlaubnis or a Erlaubnis zum Dau...
