Generally during Xmas most of the staffs are on holiday for around 1 to 2 weeks. Also if your application from outside UK it takes even longer.
I made in country application in OCT and got the doc in two weeks time.

Because of Xmas holidays it might be taking longer. You should expect the documents in couple of weeks time. Unfortunately there is no way to track the application or anything of that sort. We have to just wait. I have gone through the same and I know how it feels.

There was a link on the HomeOffice website which contained details of how a caseworker process the ILR application, gap, what is considered a gap and not, annual leave etc etc etc.

The best thing for you would be organize a meet with the Indian with Camera ON and brief about what you have done in the past. It should look real. It should look like a BBC type documentary.

My first visa did not expire. It was valid for 2 years. However just after 16 months I joined another company on WP.

I was in UK on WP for employer A.
On Sat, I got the job offer from employer B and on Mon left UK for India.
Employer B started processing my WP in UK.
After 3.5 months I came back to UK on WP for employer B.

If you want a job in UK, you have to be in UK. Getting a UK job while in India is VERY VERY VERY VERY difficult.
