If my WP is valid till dec 2009, can a family member I wish to sponser apply for a 2 years multiple entry visitors visa?

I guess this is going to have an impact on many of us belong to non EU countries, who bring in our parents to stay with us as visitors for 6 months of the year

Yes switching in country is possible, I switched from dependant visa to WP in country.

Can we conclude that the clock starts from the date the FLR was stamped on the passport even in the case of an in-country WP?
